🐾 Meet Chocolate Love 🐾 SHE HAS FOUND A NEW HOME!

Chocolate Love is a 4.5-year-old Chihuahua/Jack Russell Terrier mix weighing about 15 pounds. She is looking for a very special home with someone experienced, patient, and willing to understand her needs and boundaries.

Chocolate Love is playful, smart, and affectionate with the people she trusts. She enjoys short walks, longer hikes, cuddling on the couch, and burrowing under blankets for snuggle time. Once bonded, she can be incredibly loving and loyal.

However, Chocolate Love struggles with unfamiliar people and animals. She can bark, lunge, and attempt to bite when feeling fearful, overwhelmed, or protective of her space. She has bitten unfamiliar people entering the home and has also redirected bites during stressful situations involving other dogs or high excitement.

She would do best in:
✔️ An adult home or home with older, dog-savvy children
✔️ A calm environment with limited visitors
✔️ No other animals
✔️ Someone experienced with reactive or fearful dogs
✔️ A family willing to continue positive reinforcement training and management

Chocolate Love has shown that slow introductions work best for her. Taking a short walk with a new person and allowing them to calmly handle the leash often helps her become more comfortable and accepting.

She is not a dog for everyone, but in the right home with patience, structure, and understanding, Chocolate Love has the potential to be a deeply devoted companion.

Feeding Pets of the Homeless has transitioned Emergency Veterinary Care requests to an online application to help make the process clearer, faster and more efficient for pet guardians experiencing homelessness.

Before applying, pet guardians should review the eligibility requirements listed at the start of the application page. This helps ensure they understand what information is needed before submitting a request, including verification of their living situation from an approved agency contact.

Emergency Veterinary Care assistance is specifically for individual pet owners who are experiencing homelessness and whose pets are sick or injured. Feeding Pets of the Homeless does not pay outstanding balances or reimburse for treatment already provided.

Applications can be submitted at any time and are reviewed in the order they are received. Care coordination takes place Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. PST. Feeding Pets of the Homeless is not available after hours or on weekends.

If you need help accessing the application, a social worker, shelter staff member, outreach worker or trusted advocate may be able to help. Public libraries, shelters and community resource centers may also offer internet access.

🐾❤️ PLEASE HELP SCOTTY ❤️🐾

UPDATE: Scotty had his surgery and is resting at home; however this family could still use your assistance in taking care of the invoice.

Last year, Scotty found his forever home through Chihuahua Rescue Truckee Meadows… and he has been deeply loved every single day since. 💔

Now this sweet boy is facing a medical emergency, and his family needs our help.

Scotty recently became ill, and after veterinary testing, his family received heartbreaking news — Scotty has a mass attached to his spleen. His veterinarian has recommended surgery next Thursday to give him the best possible chance at recovery.

Scotty is more than “just a dog.” He is family. He is a loyal companion, a source of comfort, joy, laughter, and unconditional love. Seeing him go through this has been devastating for the people who adore him.

His family is committed to doing everything possible to help him heal and recover, but the cost of surgery and follow-up care is more than they can manage alone. They are reaching out with hopeful hearts and asking for support during this difficult time.

🗞️🐾✨A HIGE THANK YOU FOR YOIR DONATIONS AND SUPPORT FOR ZIA! We reached our goal for her surgery and she has an appointment tomorrow Tuesday, June 2nd

While we did reach the goal for Zia, there is always a need for medical funds for the dogs - it’s a never ending endeavor to get these dogs vetted, vaccinated, microchipped and ensure they are cared for. 🐾❤️🐾💫

🚨🐾 EMERGENCY MEDICAL PLEA – WE NEED YOUR HELP 🐾🚨

Sometimes rescue work means saying “yes” when a tiny life has nowhere else to turn… and today is one of those moments. 💔

We were contacted by Colusa County Shelter about a very sweet little 5-year-old Chihuahua girl weighing only about 6 pounds who is in urgent need of help.

This tiny girl has bilateral inguinal hernias, with one side being extremely large and requiring surgery ASAP. To make matters even more urgent, she may also be pregnant after being housed with intact male dogs while in seizure.

The shelter does not currently have access to immediate veterinary care for a medical case of this severity, and they reached out hoping rescue could step in for her.

And honestly… how could we say no to that little face? 😢🐶

But we cannot do this alone.
