Farewell to Dr. Walsh – You’ll Be So Missed!

After 5 unforgettable years at Tahoma Veterinary Hospital, we’re sending off the incredible Dr. Walsh with immense gratitude and love.

Kind, sharp, and full of quick wit, Dr. Walsh has been a steady and brilliant presence on our team. His medical knowledge, calm demeanor, and ability to brighten any room will be missed more than words can say. (And let’s be honest—we’ll also miss his legendary homemade ramen. Truly next level.)

Dr. Walsh will soon be embarking on a new adventure, with plans to head to New Zealand in the near future. While we’re sad to see him go, we’re so excited for what’s ahead and know he’ll thrive wherever he goes.

Thank you, Dr. Walsh, for everything you’ve brought to our clinic, our clients, and our lives. We’ll always be cheering you on—from Washington to wherever the world takes you.

—With love from your Tahoma Vet Fam

Heads Up, Furry Friends and Pet Parents!

We’re doing a little IT TLC behind the scenes!

Our hospital will be CLOSED Saturday, March 29th & Sunday, March 30th for an IT system upgrade—think of it as a digital spa day for our computers.

Heads-up for next week: We might be a bit slow or experience glitches on Monday, March 31st & Tuesday, April 1st as everything settles into place. Thanks in advance for your patience!

What this means for you:
• We’ll be completely closed for small animal emergencies over the weekend.
• Phones will be limited, but we’ll do our best to take calls for patients who had procedures this past week.
• Large animal services + farm calls are still happening—just a bit more limited than usual.

Thanks for bearing with us as we upgrade to serve you even better!
(And no, this isn’t an April Fools’ prank—we pinky promise.)

A message from our managing DVMs at Tahoma Vet ❤️

We are excited to inform you about the implementation of VetTriage, a new after-hours screening and telemedicine service, to better manage the volume of calls we receive outside of our regular office hours.

While we have always strived to be available for our clients, we are not a dedicated emergency service. By offering this after-hours service, we aim to continue supporting our community while also managing the workload more effectively.

Our team works full days and takes turns covering one evening each week, as well as every weekend, to serve our clients and assist with the overflow from other emergency services. VetTriage is designed to address basic questions and triage emergencies, filtering out minor inquiries that do not require immediate attention. This helps reduce the strain on our team and prevent burnout, allowing us to remain available for significant emergencies.

As our client base grows, so does our workload, making burnout a genuine concern. The addition of VetTriage will alleviate these issues while ensuring our clients receive the level of service and attention they need.

Please be assured that we are not going anywhere. This service is simply a measure to balance our workload while maintaining excellent client care.

Excited to continue to serve the community that we love, but maybe get some sleep,

Eric Long, DVM
Travis McKinzie, DVM
