Why Rex Rabbits Are The Best or Perhaps We Are Just a Tad Bias...😉

Rex rabbits are widely considered one of the best breeds for people at every stage of rabbit ownership; from first-time owners to experienced exhibitors. Rexes are an excellent choice because they are generally calm, friendly, and easy to handle. Their manageable size and gentle temperament make them ideal for learning proper care, handling, and grooming. I have never met a rabbit with a more loving personality than this breed! You definitely get what you put into these guys.

In addition to all of the Castors I posted on Wednesday I also have a 5 month old Broken Black doe! She is Mosaic so she can not be shown but would add some really good body to your barn! I really like her density, and how full her loin is! The best of all she has a sweet docile personality! Message me if interested! 🐰💖

We FINALLY have some showable prospects ready to leave the barn! Never did I see us having this many castors but here we are! We have 3 bucks and 1 doe...Each of these rabbits are showable but have some strengths and weaknesses. There is not a single rabbit in this post that I would not put on a table or use myself as a breeder! There are some brief evaluations of each rabbit in the description of their photo. The evaluation is bases on my opinion and interpretation of the ARBA SOP...As these rabbits are 4 and 5 months old they are still changing on the daily! Please let me know if you have any questions or are interested in one of them for your barn! 🐰💖

As we step into a new year, we’re reflecting on everything 2025 had in store for us! This has been by far our most successful year yet! We moved all of the rabbits into the Bunny Barn instead of outdoor hutches, successfully kindled over 70 kits, went to a few shows and placed in the top half every time and added 4 new breeders to the barn! In 2026, our goals remain the same: continue improving type, temperament, and education while raising happy, healthy Rex rabbits. Thank you to everyone who followed along and supported our rabbitry this past year! We can’t wait to share what’s ahead! 🐰

🐇✨ Welcome to Countryside Rabbitry! ✨🐇
Hi everyone! I’m Brooke, the breeder behind Countryside Rabbitry! I have gained quite a few new followers so I feel that an introduction would be helpful!

I’ve been proudly raising Rex rabbits for the past four years, and in that time my passion for the breed has grown tremendously. What began as a small hobby has become a commitment to producing rabbits that meet the ARBA Standard of Perfection while maintaining the docile, friendly personalities that make Rexes such a joy to work with.

When I’m not in the rabbitry, I work as an Academic Advisor at a local university and I am currently a graduate student pursuing my master’s in Higher Education Administration. Balancing both worlds allows me to combine my love of education with my dedication to the Rex breed mentoring students by day and nurturing my rabbits by night!

At Countryside Rabbitry, I strive to:
🌿 Raise healthy, well-socialized rabbits from birth
🏆 Produce rabbits that excel in both show and temperament
💛 Support youth in 4-H and share knowledge about rabbit care and breeding
Thank you for following along on this journey! I can’t wait to share litter updates, show results, and the everyday joys of raising Rex rabbits here at Countryside.

Doing herd evaluations this past week has really shown me how far we have come! The top left photo is Countryside's Re*****on. He is our first ever showable tri color that we produced. He has fathered over 8 litters to help us get to where we are today... Countryside's Dixie! She is a little over 5 months old and already blowing her dad out of the water! Is she perfect...NO of course not (Dang shoulders! I need more depth LOL) but she is definitely better than where we started! Fingers crossed I can get Dixie on a table ASAP to see what the judges have to say!🐰

While I was trimming nails and evaluating my bucks yesterday I had a chance to see how chill they all are! Thumper actually started to doze off to sleep while I was trimming his nails. Mind you this boy REALLY REALLY REALLY wants to get started on making some winter litters so he could have been a bit testy..but instead it was the opposite!
We hold ourselves to a high standard for temperament in every rabbit we raise. Our focus goes beyond just the ARBA Standards of Perfection—we’re dedicated to producing Rex that are docile, friendly, and easy to handle.
A calm, gentle rabbit not only makes a wonderful companion, but also helps our 4-H friends succeed in showmanship by building confidence and creating a positive experience on the table.
Each litter is raised with hands-on care to ensure that every Countryside Rex grows into a rabbit that’s as pleasant in personality as it is beautiful in coat and type. 💛🐰

*Brood Stock Rabbit For Sale!*

I have a proven buck looking for a new barn before winter! This is Bark Farm's BF04! He is 1 year and 7 months old!

He is a great herd buck and has fathered quite a few litters this year. I have both him and his brother and decided I don't need 2 identical bucks. He is towards the end of his molt so the rusty brown spots will be gone soon!

His main downside is that he had sore hocks a few months ago and they calloused...so his show career is over.

Let me know if you are interested!
