Ben Stennett Horsemanship Perpetual Relentless Student of the Horse

Ben has been tirelessly in pursuit of a more knowledgeable way of working with horses since first truly embracing horses as a fixture in his life while in college. It has been an unorthodox road at times but each step has yielded improved understanding of horse behavior and an ability to share that knowledge with horses and people alike.

I am so proud to know this human and this horse and call them both friends. They are an inspiriation and a lesson for all of us in dedication, patience, and understanding the differences in current condition and inner potential waiting to be nurtured and brought into the world.

Going into show jumping at this year’s American Eventing Championships, Heidi Grimm Powell didn’t know where she stood in the 36-horse Modified division.

Last weekend was a great opportunity to experience new things and learn from a legend. I can personally testify that Buck and what he has to offer isn’t hype. The information and experience is one that transcends disciplines and here I am days later still mentally processing all that I was witness to and got to participate in. Learn from the best you can and never quit the pursuit of more knowledge and understanding. Your horses will thank you for it.

Never stop learning! Great sessions with Buck so far. Photo credit to the wonderful Sonya Koehler

Sometimes overcoming little challenges can make all the difference. Yesterday it was a trailer for this horse. With a little patience he can learn to go load all on his own. P.S.- self filming during ground work is terribly difficult.

There’s a great article out in the latest issue of Southeast Hoofbeats. It covers a little something we do to give back to the community and the world around us titled “Helping Soldiers and Horses”. Giving back to others, especially those who have served, is something we believe in and is an integral part of what we do. Give it a read and share or just go out and help make the world a better place any way you can.

Great advice from Sylvana!

Written by Sylvana Smith This article originally appeared in Eclectic Horseman Issue No.2 Those quick feeding-time or social visits can build—or undermine—your relationship with your horse. I would love to spend my days immersed in horsemanship, but that’s not what I do. I commute two hours to...
