Brave Patient of the Week: Scooby

Scooby recently completed his heartworm treatment, which included three full days at the hospital to receive his medications. He was incredibly brave throughout the entire process and handled it like a pro. Scooby is now home and recovering well, and we’re so proud of him. 💙

Brave Patient of the Week: Miso
Miso is a 13-week-old kitten who came in for her routine vaccines to help her grow up strong and healthy. She was brave throughout her visit and soaked up all the love (and snacks!) from the staff along the way. 🐱💕

🐾 Help us give a warm welcome to the newest member of our team, Dr. Isabel Chaves, D.V.M.! 🎉

Dr. Chaves is a Cape Cod native and proud graduate of Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School. After earning her Bachelor’s in Pre-Veterinary Medicine from UMass Amherst and her D.V.M. from Tufts University, she’s thrilled to be back home—this time as your veterinarian!

She brings with her a deep passion for both veterinary medicine and the human-animal bond. During her time at Tufts, Dr. Chaves also worked with the wildlife clinic, sparking a lasting interest in exotic and wildlife medicine.

Outside the clinic, she shares her life with her two dogs, Rue and Tatum, and her cats, Gemini and Phoenix. When she’s not caring for patients, you’ll probably find her nose in a book, walking her pups along the Cape shoreline, or planning her upcoming wedding. 💍📚🐶🐱

We’re so excited to have Dr. Chaves join the Veterinary Associates of Cape Cod family—be sure to say hello at your next visit!

We’re wishing our wonderful community a safe and joyful holiday filled with sunshine, celebration, and—of course—tail wags and purrs! 💙❤️🐾

A few reminders to keep your pets safe today:
🐶 Keep pets indoors during fireworks—loud noises can be scary!
🐱 Make sure collars are secure and microchips are up-to-date.
🧊 Keep them cool, hydrated, and away from party foods and grill scraps.
💊 If your pet has a Chill Protocol, be sure to administer it as directed.

We are so grateful to serve this community and be part of your pets’ lives year-round. Enjoy the festivities—and give your furry friends an extra cuddle from us today! 💥🐕🐾
