🐾 Can my dog eat that? 🍎🥕🍗

We all love sharing a little snack with our four-legged family members—but not everything on our plate is safe for them!

We put together this quick guide with some dog-friendly fruits, veggies, proteins, and other treats, plus a few foods that should always stay off the menu. ❤️

A few things to remember:

Keep people-food treats to 10% or less of your dog’s daily calories
Serve foods plain and unseasoned
Remove seeds, pits, cores, and bones
When trying something new, start with a small amount
And when in doubt, ask your veterinarian before sharing!

📌 Save this post for the next time those puppy-dog eyes are staring you down at snack time! 👀🐶

What’s your dog’s favorite safe snack? Tell us below! ⬇️

👂 Does your pet keep getting ear infections?

Medication may clear the infection—but recurring ear trouble can be a sign of an underlying issue, with allergies being one of the most common causes.

If you notice head shaking, scratching, redness, discharge, odor, or sensitivity around the ears, it’s time for an exam. Your veterinarian can determine whether yeast, bacteria, or both are present and recommend the right treatment.

A few important reminders:
🐾 Avoid using cotton swabs inside the ear canal
🐾 Complete the full course of prescribed medication
🐾 Keep scheduled recheck appointments—even if your pet seems better
🐾 Only clean your pet’s ears as directed, since too much cleaning can cause irritation

Healthy ears shouldn’t be painful, itchy, or smelly. If something seems off, give us a call—we’re here to help! 💙

🐾 Please join us in welcoming Dr. Kaitlin Flanagan to the VACC team! 🩺💙

A Cape Cod native, Dr. Flanagan is especially excited to be practicing veterinary medicine right here in the community she has always called home!

Dr. Flanagan earned her bachelor’s degree from UMass Amherst before completing a master’s degree while working as a veterinary technician. She then attended Tufts University, where she earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. Following veterinary school, she completed an intensive rotating internship in emergency and specialty medicine at Ocean State Veterinary Specialists.

Her professional interests include emergency medicine, soft tissue surgery, preventative medicine, and spectrum of care. Dr. Flanagan is especially passionate about client education and working alongside pet owners to create individualized treatment plans that make sense for both the patient and their family. She believes veterinary care should be a collaborative process and wants every client to feel informed, supported, and comfortable when making decisions for their pet. 🐶🐱

When she’s not at the hospital, you’ll likely find Dr. Flanagan enjoying everything the Cape has to offer—spending time at the beach, boating, riding the trails with her horse, Daisy, or hiking with her dog, Zena. 🐾🌊

We are so excited to have Dr. Flanagan joining our team and even more excited to welcome another Cape Cod native home!

Help us give Dr. Flanagan a warm VACC welcome! 💙🐾
