What is flyball?
In brief, flyball is a relay race between two teams of four dogs. Each dog must jump four jumps, trigger a spring loaded box, catch the ball and then carry that ball back over the four jumps.

Prerequisites:
Dogs need to be at least 10 months of age.
Dogs should have a fairly reliable sit, stay/wait, down and recall.
Dogs must have a reliable recall around distraction.
Dogs must be comfortable being handled and restrained by persons other than their own handler.
Dogs must be non-aggressive towards humans and dogs.
Dogs with strong toy drive (preferred) or food motivation.

The GGDS flyball crew had strong representation this past weekend at the North American Flyball Association (NAFA) flyball competition in Lindsay, CA.

Misha and Dana had their flyball debut, it was a fantastic beginning to what will be an amazing flyball career. Misha earned her Flyball Dog and Flyball Dog Excellent titles. Big things are in store for this powerful duo.

Lincoln and Aaron worked on increasing his run time while holding his turn, passing another dog and bringing his ball. He ran Sunday with only a single ball drop and only a couple thought out the weekend. He continues to accumulate points to his next title.

Willow and Madeline at only their second tournament worked hard on running in different positions in the line up. Willow continues to gain in speed and confidence. Willow only seemed to get faster as the tournament progressed. She ran a new personal best of 4.524 seconds at the end of the event Sunday. She also earned her Flyball Dog Champion title. Willow and Madeline also helped their team win their division on Sunday. Very impressive.

Theo and Gennie are working hard to build his confidence away from the GGDS practice site. At the end of the weekend he completed a full practice run with his race team to demonstrate just how close he's getting.

Aaron and Franky are making their way to the lanes and making new friends along the way. Shy little Franky is slowly building her confidence and working on her flyball skills at the tournament environment during warm up time. It is amazing to see how far this little lady has come.

Looking forward to seeing what more these teams accomplished at the next flyball tournament.

We are delighted to announce that parking outside GGDS is now 90 degree parking only.

SFMTA has approved the 90 degree parking on our end of Carroll Avenue (outside of GGDS and two neighboring commercial businesses) in the area indicated by the white line on the street. A street sign has been installed.
Please try and park efficiently - close to the next vehicle!!
