Not every Pet Portrait is a gem. And not every client gets what was hoped for. Alas, this is even true when it comes to my Pet Portraits. Both my recent client and I hoped for a beautiful portrait to give as a gift. If it were school, I'd be inclined to say the portrait flunked. But of course, it wasn't the portrait that didn't pass muster--it was the artist. There have been a few times in the past where I have created a no-charge "do-over," a second portrait much better than the first; only one client has ever refused one of my drawings, and I still have that drawing, framed and hanging at home, because it is hauntingly beautiful; it just didn't meet the client's expectations (which were not made clear to me in the beginning). This time, I didn't have enough information in the photos I was sent, and the composition became complex because of a multiplicity of background figures. I want everyone to know: If you're not satisfied with a portrait I have created for you, you may return it to me for a FULL REFUND. Also, if a client provides additional information that helps me create a satisfying second portrait of the same subject(s), the charge would be half off the original price. I believe the saying is, "We (I) aim to please!"
