Friends of Animal Rescue is a 501(c)(3) that was formed in February of 2010. Friends operates the South Padre Island Animal Shelter and is under contract with the City of South Padre Island to We do not believe in euthanizing for the sake of over population, thus we are a no kill shelter for the City of South Padre Island.

This guy might look familiar to you. He came into the shelter on Christmas Day 2024. In February of 2025 he was adopted by a wonderful man. Unfortunately, that wonderful man passed away last week. Thor misses his daddy and is having trouble adjusting to being back at the shelter. Thor is housetrained, up to date on all vetting and ready to find a new home that will give him the love he deserves. Meet Thor at 4908 Padre Blvd between 10-5 daily.
