What a whirlwind few weeks it's been for us! I had been back and forth on whether to save Jack for the classes at the National. A part of me really wanted to see what he could do there, but in the end I decided we would have a more relaxing National this year with just 2 dogs. Last year, we had to rent a full sized van just to fit 3 dogs and the toddler and all her stuff too.
So I decided I was going to try and finish Jack. He started blowing his coat, which made me nervous, but to be honest he looks pretty good out of coat. First stop was the Freehold NJ specialties where he was reserve and then WD/BOW for his third major and fourth specialty win. That left him with one point to finish! The same weekend, Phoebe was Best in Sweeps and RWB. She got really nice compliments from both judges! 😊
Next we headed up to Wrentham MA for the Yankee specialties. What a day we had there! I don't know if we will ever top this day. Both Jack and Phoebe ended up winning every time they set foot in the ring. Phoebe took a really competitive Best in Sweeps under a long distance musher/breeder judge, with lovely compliments again. Then, at the specialty, Jack took WD out of bred-by. I was thinking there was no way I would win with Phoebe too! But then she took WB in an entry of 16. I stayed on Jack in the breed ring, and he took BOW and BBE. The judge even tried to give him BOBOH, not realizing that the breed winner was owner-handled! 😱
Since we got started in Siberians nearly a decade ago now, it's been my dream to produce a dog that is capable of winning under breeder judges, especially those that work their dogs, as well as all-breed judges. Our current generation of dogs has proven to be just that, and I'm so excited to see what comes next! 🔥
