It not been a good weekend for us.
We lost Tommy today due to kidney failure. He was 6 years old. I want to say to his family that fostered with us, please accept our condolences and thank you for letting us say goodbye to hold and kiss him. He was so young and this shatters our hearts.
Our old boy Miles whose 17, his whole face swelled up and I do believe it’s an abscess tooth. We have him on an antibiotic, steroid for the swelling and gabapentin for pain. We are praying he can get in to Mitten tomorrow.
We do everything we can for our fosters and all animals. We do not say it’s a cat or dog, we don’t do that. We save all life. Cat, Dog, Possum, raccoon, doesn’t matter!!
A life matters to us.
While it’s been a bear of a weekend and we go into this week not knowing if we’re going to lose Miles, we are tired and the tears won’t stop falling. We care for so many lives. Most people will only lose a few animals in their lifetime, we’ve lost so many the China cabinet of urns is running out of room.
Reflecting on this, we stand to have our hearts shattered at a minimum of 40 more times with our long term fosters. This was hard to swallow this weekend. But we do it because the first humans in their lives failed them miserably. We stepped up and stepped in.
So please, love your babies. Cherish them, when they make as mess, you will miss that silliness later. When they are talking, listen. One day you won’t hear them. And when you’re overwhelmed and stressed, give them a hug and hold them as they already sensed your troubles. Because one day, you’ll wish for just one more moment.
RIP sweet Tommy Boy ❤️🩹❤️🩹❤️🩹❤️🩹❤️🩹
Please pray for Miles. He needs everything right now. ❤️🩹❤️🩹❤️🩹❤️🩹
