Heads up to our clients: Road construction on Pontiac Trail (Lafayette St) begins May 18th that will likely cause some delays if you're coming in to see us. We will be open and accessible during construction. Keep in mind that it should only be the NORTHBOUND lane that will close, southbound should stay open. We have attached the link to the Oakland Country Road Commission project page that has information about detour routes so that you can plan accordingly. Thank you for your patience and we look forward to seeing you!

In 2026, Pontiac Trail/Lafayette Street will be reconstructed. The work includes drainage improvements, storm sewer installation, modernization of traffic signals and updating pedestrian crosswalks to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act. During the work, on-street parking will be prohibi...

Tick season is in full swing here in Michigan. Ticks transmit diseases like Lyme disease, Anaplasmosis and Ehrlichiosis. We don't just see these diseases occurring in heavily wooded areas, they are highly prevalent in suburban areas as well. We are seeing them crawling onto our furry friends later into the winter than before and emerging even earlier every spring. We recommend giving flea and tick prevention year round to protect your pet from tick bites and the diseases they transmit. Ask your veterinarian about which prevention is best for you. 🐾

Facts about ticks:
- A baby tick (called a Nymph) can be as small as a poppy seed. Try to locate that in your pet's fur! 🐢🐱
- Ticks hang out at the top of blades of grass or low brush and wait for your pet to pass by and then hitch a ride. 🌱
- Ticks can even be dropped into your yard by birds passing over head! πŸ¦…
- Ticks can lay thousands of eggs at a time. 🀒
- Ticks can transmit dangerous diseases in as little as 24 hours to you or your pet. 🦠

For more information about ticks, check out the Companion Animal Parasite Council or make an appointment to discuss prevention with your veterinarian. πŸ‘©β€βš•οΈπŸ‘¨β€βš•οΈ

This Easter season, please be aware of the danger of Lillies for pets. True Lillies are toxic to both dogs and cats, though we more often see toxicity in cats who are able to jump up on counters and tables. It only takes a tiny lick or nibble to cause severe illness. If you are concerned that your cat or dog has ingested Lillies or if you'd like to learn more, please call us at (248)-437-1243.

Does your pet have a surgical procedure coming up? If your pet has a wound or a surgical incision that needs to heal, it's incredibly important to prevent them from being able to lick, chew or scratch at the site. Having the proper type of device for this will help reduce infections and other complications that could prolong your pet's healing.

Want to know which device is right for your pet? Check out these pictures for some helpful info. You don't have to wait for your pet to have surgery to purchase these items either, it's nice to have them on hand in case of unexpected injuries or surgeries.

If you have any other questions about post-op recovery, give us a call! 🐢🐱

We were so happy to examine Pico, who has an amazing story! He had been missing, outside in the cold Michigan winter after a house fire. His owners never gave up looking for him and were overjoyed to be reunited with him after a month of living on his own. He is quite the survivor! We were thrilled to see that Pico was no worse for the wear after his ordeal and he is back with his family where he belongs. Welcome home, Pico!
