If you are looking for a happy and affectionate pup who loves all kinds of adventures, Howie is your boy! This handsome fluffball promises to be your best and most loyal companion. He is very well-behaved when he is out and about and is great in the car. Howie knows his basic commands and seems to be housebroken. While Howie enjoys socializing with the other dogs, he will need to be your one and only in the home. No cats for Howie, please

Argo von Breisgau is a beautiful 2-year-old larger sized German Shepherd. He has a quiet, low-key presence at the rescue as he adjusts to kennel life after being found on a city street. He is a gentle soul who will do best in a calm, nurturing environment. The chaos of life in a kennel on a busy street isn’t where he would like to be. He is dreaming of a better, happier place. Argo loves a little baby talk that helps him warm up right away. He'll quietly come up and lean in for pets and follow you around as you move about. When it's time for a walk, he walks nicely by your side and doesn't react to other dogs he sees; even little dogs aren’t afraid of him. In playgroups he mingles a bit, then tends to hang out with people. We can’t wait to see Argo in his new home, we know he will just blossom. We love this big, handsome guy. Come see for yourself! (no cats please). Argo was found by Good Sam.

Greta von Freiburg is a stunning 12-month-old reddish-and-black beauty with a soft, slightly longer coat that’s just made for petting. But it’s not just her looks that make her special – it’s her cheery disposition that wins hearts wherever she goes. On leash, she starts out full of enthusiasm but will quickly settle by your side in a heel position. She listens well and responds to gentle guidance, eager to be a part of your next adventure, whether it’s an enjoyable hike, or quiet snuggles in your lap. In playgroups, Greta greets other dogs with a friendly wag and invites them to join in the fun. Whether she’s playing with her canine pals or making new human friends, her happy-go-lucky nature is impressive. If you’re looking for a companion who will fill your days with joy, Greta is your girl! (No cats please.) Greta was rescued from the Baldwin Park animal shelter.

Female Foster Dog of the Day - Kiki von Kleve

Kiki von Kleve is a stunning 2-year-old German Shepherd. An elegant girl with long beautiful legs, she is very loving and sweet, and good with dogs in playgroups at the rescue. Kiki sadly lost her home when her owner died. She is house broken and crate-trained and has good manners in the home. She's adjusting to kennel life but always very loving, rubbing on you while you pet her. She's very food and toy-motivated, making her eager to please and fun to train, and she loves water. She also walks nicely on leash, greeting dogs with a wagging tail. In playgroups, Kiki is a total social butterfly. She enjoys meeting new dogs and especially loves trying to get others to join in her playtime. She took particular fancy to a confident male dog, Canelo, and kept trying to get him to play, so she would enjoy another playful dog in her forever home. She's said to be okay with small dogs, but she's not for cats. Lovely Kiki will bring love and joy to her future family. Kiki 's

Kobe von Kamenz is a gorgeous 84 lbs., 5-year-old long-haired German Shepherd. Can you even feel how soft Kobe is through the screen? His larger size makes his gorgeous looks stand out even more. He is a love with his people and looking for an experienced home. He is excited to start the day, especially when his favorite hobbies are involved: eating treats, walking, getting scratches and learning new tricks. Yes, Kobe is super food-motivated (so relatable), and with his love of snacks he's very trainable. He is likely housebroken. This handsome fella loves going on walks, especially when he can meet new people. He’s working on his social skills with dogs, however, and is looking for a home where he can be your one-and-only MVP (and no cats, please). This big boy needs a soft place to lay his head every night. Bring him to your house and watch Kobe make it a home. Kobe was rescued from the Downey animal shelter.

AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION - Mandy von Moutier

Mandy von Moutier is a gorgeous 3–4-month-old German Shepherd puppy who is very sweet and extra smart. She'll bury her head in your arms and roll over for belly rubs. Mandy listens very well, wants to please and is a quick learner - she already knows her Sit and Down commands and is very treat-motivated. She would love another playful pup or two in the home (but no cats). She loves being part of a pack on walks and quickly looks for another dog to play with in playgroups, wagging and giving play bows; she just might be too much for an older or calmer dog. Up for anything, she does great on walks and is adventurous and curious. If you are looking for a well-socialized, intelligent and playful puppy, we encourage you to ask for Mandy! Mandy was rescued from the Riverside animal shelter.

Meet the October 21st Dog of the Day in the 2025 Westside calendar - Mason.

Mason was our first GSD son from Westside. He was a quintessential GSD - majestic soul with style, grace, calm, character and a perfect example of a great teacher. He was our Mufasa and was best friends with our girl Lilly, who was our first from Westside. We lost Mason in 2021 after a terrible bout with degenerative myopathy. Mason and Lilly got to experience adventures together and really set the tone for our lives going forward. Lilly has now joined Mason in heaven, as of 2022. His favorite foods were steak, eggs and blueberries.
Mason and Lily are both at the Rainbow Bridge with Riley, Jade and Nala.
We love you and miss you dearly.

AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION - Rocky von Linz

Rocky von Linz is a very handsome 2-year-old German Shepherd who is beloved by everyone at the rescue. Rocky didn't come from a privileged background, so his whole being lights up with any kindness. Now, when we see him, we hardly recognize him: he has turned into such a handsome and outgoing dog, eager for all that life has to offer. He has a blast in dog playgroups - he almost seems like a c**t, with his long, gangly legs. (He's fine with bigger dogs, but isn't for small dogs or cats.) Today he is probably the happiest dog at the rescue: every day is wonderful to him. He has the most endearing spirit, which reminds us all to be grateful for the good things in life. We can't wait for him to experience a loving and caring home. He lived with kids and is housebroken. Come experience the joy of Rocky! Rocky was an owner surrender - could no longer care for him.

Christy von Clausen is a stunning 18-month-old German Shepherd.

Per her favorite volunteer:
"We hiked with Christy on June’s monthly hike. Christy has been my buddy at Westside for over 6 months now. This girl has such a happy energy and does everything with passion, whether greeting me each time we meet or enjoying all our adventures. She can’t get enough of car rides, walks better on loose leash every time, and learns things very quickly. She loves affection and has a huge heart ready to love anybody. She has been waiting so patiently for her forever home, and I just hope that when she finds it, she is loved a lot and never knows hardship ever again. She will make you smile for sure!"

Ps: she really enjoys playing with dogs who match her enthusiasm for romping around. Unfortunately, that enthusiasm doesn't extend to cats.
Christy was rescued by a Good Samaritan from a bad home.

Female Foster Puppy of the Day - Sadie von Bernina

AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION

Sadie von Bernina is a gorgeous 4-month-old German Shepherd puppy. This little girl is as sweet as she is stunning. With her gentle temperament and loving nature, Sadie is a true gem. She is a little shy when meeting new people, but it doesn’t take long before she warms up and offers the softest, most affectionate kisses. She absolutely loves being near her humans and will happily follow you from room to room just to be close. She’s currently being fostered with a 4-year-old German Shepherd, whom she adores and respectfully follows—showing great doggy manners and learning the ropes of her new world. Sadie sleeps peacefully through the night in her crate and is making great progress with her house training. Whether she joins a home with another dog or becomes your one and only, she is sure to fill your life with love, loyalty, and gentle companionship.
