People keep asking me, "Don't three dogs stress you out?" And I'm like, are you KIDDING? My house is complete chaos. There's fur everywhere. Someone's always barking. I can't remember the last time I wore black pants successfully. My furniture looks like a crime scene. My car smells like a kennel. And you know what? I'M HAPPIER THAN I'VE EVER BEEN. Because yes, three dogs is a lot. But three dogs is also three times the love. Three times the greeting when I come home. Three times the cuddles. Three times the goofy faces and silly moments. And most importantly? Three dogs means I literally don't have TIME to spiral into anxiety. One dog needs to go out. Another wants to play. The third is staring at me because it's dinner time (it's always dinner time). My mental health problems haven't disappeared. But they've definitely been crowded out by more important concerns - like who ate the remote and why is there a shoe in the water bowl? Depression wants me to stay in bed? Too bad, three dogs need their morning walk. Anxiety wants me to overthink everything? Can't, too busy breaking up a wrestling match over a squeaky toy. Sometimes the solution to life's problems isn't fixing them. It's just getting too busy with better things to focus on them. So yeah, get the fourth dog. I dare you.
