Nothing like a bout of cellulitis to keep you humble. Frog is already on the mend. I’ll just be here, holding a hose 😂

Thank you for capturing such beautiful moments from Bear Spot Spring! This was the first show in a long time where I had a hard time choosing photos because I was actually happy with all of them! Also loving the moments with , he has supported us so much and it was wonderful to have him there for our first try at I2!

What a weekend! Frog and I did our first two I2 tests this weekend at Spring Show! While my tests weren’t clean and my scores weren’t amazing, I am so so happy with how it went. After a month of really backsliding and struggling with the 1 tempis, I was finally able to have my saddle checked just last Thursday. Turns out, Frog has grown 2 tree sizes this spring. Thanks to and I was able to use a demo saddle and I went into this weekend knowing the changes wouldn’t be fixed overnight but I also knew that Frog was back to his usual chill self about them.

Yesterday in the cold and damp, we put together a decent test with the help of ! Only a 59.4% but I was pleased with how relaxed and willing Frog was throughout. Today I paid a bit more attention to detail in the test and we were rewarded with a 62%! For my first time at the level, on a horse I have brought along myself, I am so happy and so grateful to all those that have helped me along the way!

Shoutout to who showed today on Bruno, earning a 68% for her First Level Freestyle! Bruno is coming back from a tough winter and Abi is doing a great job helping him regain his strength!

To say I am proud of and would be an understatement! We went to CVDA this weekend for Lauren’s FIRST EVER show on her own horse, and for Leah’s first outing of the season. Both had great rides in spite of cold, wind, and even some hail! Filou was wonderful, if a little enthusiastic, and Bodi and Leah were able to find harmony and relaxation in both the warm up and the show ring!

Today’s lesson was made possible by my amazing farrier ! She happened to be on the farm, and was about to drive away when I went to get Frog. I had a gut feeling and asked her to wait. Frog came in minus a shoe, she ran right out to find it while I brought him in and the shoe was back on in minutes!

Frog and I went on to have a super lesson with !

Raise your hand if your horse would put up with chasing pigeons around the arena with a pool noodle. Frog is an angel and thought this was a perfectly reasonable thing to be doing 😂

So glad to have Jennifer at the farm. It makes such a huge difference in all of us!

I might be schooling the GP and have my whole show schedule mapped out but that doesn’t stop me from continuing my work with Frog towards bridle-less work.

On our light work days I mix it up with hacking, in hand work, and riding in the rope halter. All these help keep his mind happy and improve his strength and understanding in a less stressful way than a true training ride.

With the snow finally (mostly) off the outdoor, Frog and I were able to get out and enjoy the sunshine! He felt relaxed and tuned in, something that he used to struggle with outside.

While Frog is not the flashiest mover, he makes up for it with his confidence and trainability. He has such a talent for collection and it has been so amazing to learn this all with him.

When your fancy (idiotic) dressage horse pulls 3 shoes in 2 days and your farrier is swamped, you just pull the 4th shoe and embrace a week or two of light work. Very lucky that has been learning how to trim from
