May the 4th Be With You…
Yesterday we welcomed a tiny Star Wars crew into the world, and we are absolutely in love!
Meet the newest additions:

Jojo started labor like a champ and delivered the first three puppies quickly and without any issues. I was monitoring her closely and knew from the earlier ultrasound that she still had at least one more in there. After the third pup she went into what’s called a “whelping pause.” She was calm, sleeping peacefully, no distress at all. Five hours passed and she still hadn’t started active labor again.
I didn’t want to take any chances, so I called my amazing vet (who I trust completely). She had me do another ultrasound — the heart rate on the last puppy was dropping. I had oxytocin on hand and my vet gave me the green light to give her a dose. When there was still no progress after 30 minutes, we headed straight in for x-rays.
That little one was turned sideways and tucked in a position that made natural delivery impossible. A c-section was the only safe option.
Thankfully the surgery went smoothly, and both Jojo and the last puppy (Ahsoka!) came through like absolute warriors. Everyone is now happy, nursing, and doing great.
This is the part of breeding most people don’t see — the middle-of-the-night worry, the vet bills, the ultrasounds, the x-rays, the emergency c-section, the stress of wondering if you made the right call… all while trying to stay calm. It’s expensive, emotionally draining, and sometimes scary. But it’s also why I will never cut corners. Every single puppy and mama deserves the best chance possible.
If you’re thinking about getting into this, just know it’s not all adorable puppy piles. It’s long days, sleepless nights, no vacations or time off and a whole lot of responsibility. But when I see these healthy, thriving babies with their happy mama… it’s worth every single second.
