Blue Rider Stables

We are a nonprofit therapeutic riding stable in the Berkshire Hills of Massachusetts Blue Rider Stables is a non-profit, therapeutic riding center.

We do bareback riding at our facility in South Egremont, MA. We have a herd of 15 equines, many of whom have been rescued and retrained to do the amazing work they do. They live naturally in a herd - no stalls here!

Come join Fern (and some of the two-legged staff) for our Pasture Walk! Learn about Blue Rider's land and history, and learn how we've been keeping our herd with the idea of "Friends, Forage, Freedom" 🐎successfully🐎 for thirty-five years -long before it became a buzzword.
We'll be walking through field and forest, so dress appropriately- but it's Halloween, so wear your costume, if you want! (Will Fern be dressed for Halloween? Come and find out!)
For those who don't want to walk, we're planning to have our fire pit set up, and Ed from Tall Tales and Flights of Fancy will be here telling stories!
And, of course, the stars of the show: our beautiful herd of horses and donkeys! They can't wait to see you!

Saturday is our Pasture Walk! Come see the other part of Blue Rider, where the horses spend a lot of time being horses and living in a herd. 🐎🫏
We will have Ed of Tall Tales and Flights of Fancy here at the fire pit to tell stories for those who don't want to walk so far. The horses will be able to take part in the story telling, so that you can meet them up close and personal🐴 Costumes are welcome! (As long as the costumes are safe to walk in and you can see!)

Everyone, welcome Gunther!
Gunther (formerly Gunner) was a well-loved and widely known lesson horse and "first horse" in his previous home. He is a laid-back gentleman, people-oriented, and sturdy and strong. We look forward to getting to know him!

Blue Rider Wednesday! It's been a bit, but I finally made it up to spend time with my favourite herd last week!

Becky says "Autumn has arrived, and we’re almost to the end of grazing season. Days are getting shorter, nights are getting colder, and the horses are getting fuzzier! We had a really busy summer season and so many events this fall, and there are still more events to come..."

And there is a LOT coming up. 💙

October is a good month for walking!
Walk around our pastures with us on Saturday, October 31st (yup, Halloween day! costumes welcome) 🎃 and learn about how our horses live, who else shares their pastures 🦌 and the history of Blue Rider Stables 💙
From 3:30 to 5:30 there will be a bonfire, storytelling with Tall Tales and Flights of Fancy, and refreshments.

From now until then, our move-a-thon "Wings for Willie" is in full swing! Walk, run, dance, and ride 🐎 your way through the rest of the month 💃🏃‍♀️ Find a sponsor (or two, or more!) and help support our herd through the winter

Are you coming to the Harvest Festival at Berkshire Botanical Garden this weekend? Be sure to stop by for pony rides! We'll be there Saturday from 10:30 to 4:30 and Sunday from 11:00 to 3:00 🐎
It sounds like this is going to be another great year for the Harvest Festival, with plenty of activities and lots of good food (not to mention the beautiful location) 🌻
