This is why you should choose a reputable breeder to get your Goldendoodle. Goldendoodle on the left sheds and looks very wiry. Goldendoodle on the right was carefully bred with testing and can show3 generation pedigree with pictures so you know what the outcome can be. All puppies are cute but if a person gets a puppy from someone who says “This is a Goldendoodle” and can’t explain their testing, what kind of coat they will have, disease free, etc don’t get it. Which would you want?

Ethical Breeders vs Backyard Breeders. I copied this from Juniper Ridge Poodles and Goldendoodles-

Choosing a Goldendoodle Breeder
Make sure of the following:

1) Proof. Live videos showing where little ones spend the majority of their time. That cute little rattan chair beside the potted plant in front of a shiplap wall is cute but it’s a snapshot—it’s meaningless. Where do they sleep? Eat? Are they in the house? Clean-ish potty trays? Food and water? Toys? Are videos posted frequently enough that it proves its real life and not another “fake” glimpse into the day to day?

2) Candids. Cannot stress how important it is to see the normal every day life of both littles and adults. Life isn’t always clean and d0gs aren’t always perfectly groomed—it’s covered in muddy paw prints at times with a fuzzier face than we’d prefer. But it’s real. It’s vital that you see the day to day life and interactions. Are they comfortable together with a sense of family?

3) Access. If they claim it—make them prove it. Health testing? Crate training? Ask for the videos showing it. You deserve to see CURRENT adult photos of all dogs in the program. Expect more out of your breeder. If we claim it, give us the opportunity to prove it. I promise the best ones will appreciate your thoroughness and care.

4) Condition. Look at the details. Do the little ones have a constantly wet face? Is the white stained even after baths? How short are the nails? Are the eyes goopy or crusty? Are the adults in good weight with short nails and decently groomed? Perfection isn’t realistic but the d0gs should be clearly cared for and loved.

5) Flipping. Is there always something new or available? Frequent rehoming or acquisition of adults? Did they raise the parents or at least one? If a breeder is placing an adult, there’s a reason and generally it’s not a “good deal”—it’s a dump job. How can a breeder speak of their littles when they don’t know the parents?

Brothers- except for the name….. can you tell them apart? This is why I use color collars when they are born through going home.
