Today is National Parvovirus Awareness Day. Parvo is seen frequently in younger puppies and some older non-vaccinated dogs. If your puppy is showing signs of not wanting to eat, vomiting, diarrhea - often bloody, and listlessness, have them examined by a veterinarian as soon as possible since the frequent vomiting and diarrhea can lead to dehydration and worse. Prevention with up to date vaccinations (the da2pp - often just called distemper- is a combination vaccine) is key.
