The Humane Society of Chittenden County (HSCC) was founded in 1901 and serves Chittenden & Grand Isle Counties. Each year, we welcome more than 1,400 animals and as many as 15,000 people to our 12,000 square foot facility in South Burlington. of individuals, families and communities. Our mission is to ensure that every pet has a loving home and that every pet owner has access to the resources they need to give those pets happy, healthy lives. We accomplish this by...
-Rehoming animals in need
-Helping pet owners keep their beloved pets through several surrender prevention
services, offered free of charge
-Providing humane education programs to kids, teens, and adults
-Assisting law enforcement in animal cruelty investigations
-Transporting hundreds of animals each year from high-volume shelters in the
South so they have a greater chance at finding a home

15-year-old Oliver is off to the retirement home of his dreams!😸 Our special boy was lucky enough to get scooped up by a veterinary technician, and Oliver was so excited to head home that he ran right up to his adopter when it was time for their adoption photo.

This lovable 8-year-old lady is all about her people, so she'd love to find a home where she can be included in your daily routines. Jayda has no known experience living with cats, but we do think she'd be happiest as the only dog in her new home.

Please join us in celebrating the one & only JoAnn Nichols on her 19th (!!) HSCC-iversary! 🥳

Our longest-serving staff member, JoAnn serves as HSCC's resident Humane Educator + TNR Specialist and overall animal welfare extraordinaire. She's been a steadfast animal welfare advocate for over 40 years, doing everything from undercover animal rights investigations to wildlife rehabilitation, animal control, and cruelty investigations. Our community is so lucky to have this amazing human, and HSCC is grateful for all of her work and commitment to HSCC's mission.

Thank you, JoAnn, for sharing your time, passion, and expertise with us - and for everything you do for our community's furry (and scaly) friends! 🎉
