A devastating deer disease called Epizootic Hemorrhagic Disease (EHD) hit hard in 2025, killing 75-80% of deer on some properties in Ohio and West Virginia. We're studying how to help deer populations recover faster and stronger.

Let’s highlight a couple more teams as we are already open in MD and KY and barreling towards season in WV, OH and PA.
John and Tigger and Bloodline Trackers of Longspur roll up in that truck that you can not help but to notice and that’s not the only thing that’s loud ! Their tracking skills are also! John and his amazing woodsmanship and Tigger the prey driven Hanoverian tracking machine. This team recovered 3 deer and 1 bear in a 24 hour period in OH, PA, WV and MD! That’s tracking dedication! If you are a serious hunter John is is your serious tracker! Put a dog on it!
Andrew Layman at Maxx Altitude Aerial Solutions is located close to Morgantown, WV and is one of experienced SkyDogs! Andrew flew and recovered deer in Ohio last year! Andrew is a very experienced drone pilot and an accomplished whitetail deer hunter. Best of both worlds!

This doesn’t sound like a lot but this is what a DNR looks like that is listening to their hunters. Ohio held an emergency public meeting last night, made a proposal and now they are gathering public comment. This would lower the deer limit from 3 to 2. Is it the correct call? Maybe not but it’s movement. From what we have seen in Washington and Athen County the bag limit should probably be lowered to a single antlered buck.
Where is WV DNR leadership? (We appreciate the everyday employees, game managers and biologists, do not construe this as a slam on them)

Walt Allen and Justin Allen of Belpre, OH and Parkersburg, WV respectively make up BBD Recovery Buckeye Branch of Longspur, folks if you look for experience and a true woodsman that is the description of Walt! Walt is the OG (original guy) in Ohio. No one has done it longer and tailgated bucks at impressive rates the way Walt has. His nephew Justin is also an accomplished tracker and outdoorsmen! They offer both dog tracking and drone recovery! We are honored to have them as part of the team!
Zach Swiger of Silent Track Recovery of Longspur is located in Morgantown, WV. He is an accomplished outdoorsmen, houndsman and thermal coyote hunter! He will be serving all of West Virginia and part of Maryland! He is an integral part of our team and we are proud to be working with him!

As the 2024 tracking season was winding down, Jesse was absolutely nose down on a meat seeking missle mission on every track! We finished the season finding 12 in a row, catching and holding 3 of those bucks on lead! We are looking forward to her 5th full tracking season this year! It’s amazing to watch these dogs develop as they track! Looking forward to tracking season 2025 and bringing you the excitement on Season 2 of “The Recovery” on BloodTrailz TV on youtube!
