June is the perfect time to open your heart and home to a cat in need. Every year, thousands of wonderful cats and kittens wait in shelters and rescues for a family to call their own. Whether you’re looking for a playful kitten, a laid-back adult cat, or a loving senior companion, there’s a feline friend out there just for you.

Adopting a cat doesn’t just change their life—it can change yours too. Cats provide companionship, reduce stress, and fill our homes with love (and a little bit of mischief!).

If you’re considering adding a new family member, remember:
🐾 Adopt from a local shelter or rescue.
🐾 Schedule a veterinary exam soon after adoption.
🐾 Make sure your new cat is vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed/neutered.

🌡️ Hot Weather Is Coming — Keep Your Pets Safe! 🐾

As temperatures start to climb, it’s important to remember that our pets can overheat much faster than we do.

☀️ Heat Safety Tips:
🐶 Walk dogs during the cooler morning or evening hours.
💧 Always provide fresh, clean water.
🌳 Make sure pets have access to shade when outdoors.
🚗 Never leave your pet in a parked car — even for a few minutes.
🐾 Remember that hot pavement can burn sensitive paw pads. If it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for their feet!
😺 Watch for signs of heat stress, including excessive panting, drooling, weakness, vomiting, or collapse.

Certain pets, including seniors, puppies and kittens, overweight pets, and flat-faced breeds (such as Bulldogs, French Bulldogs, Pugs, and Persians), are at an even greater risk of heat-related illness.

If you suspect your pet is suffering from heatstroke, move them to a cool area, offer water, and seek veterinary care immediately.

As temperatures rise, it’s important to remember that heat can become dangerous for our pets very quickly. Dogs and cats can overheat much faster than people, and heatstroke can become life-threatening in minutes.
A medida que aumentan las temperaturas, es importante recordar que el calor puede volverse peligroso para nuestras mascotas muy rápidamente. Los perros y gatos pueden sobrecalentarse mucho más rápido que las personas, y un golpe de calor puede poner en riesgo su vida en cuestión de minutos.

Here are a few simple ways to keep your pets safe this summer:
