We love FLUFFY butts 😍

Let's talk double coated dogs, the ones that have that undercoat that is more fluffy and their outer coat is softer.
Examples: Aussie's, St. Bernard, Newfie, Husky, Shepherd, Golden Retrievers, Samoyed ect.

Did you know their coat is a protective layer against the elements, not just the cold but in the heat also. Unlike us, dogs don't sweat so they pant and rely on their natural way to cool down. Their coats act as a natural insulator as well as a cooling method in the summer. If their coat is shaved they are unable to stay warm in the winter, also not able to cool in the summer.

In the summer this is extremely dangerous because it puts those pets at risk of heat stroke, sun burn or sun poisoning and potential for alopecia.

So the next time you think it may be better to get all those fluffy butts shaved off, think again. Ask your groomer not to shave but trim using scissors only.

If you have a groomer that shaves your double coated dogs, its time for a break-up.
