This was one of the first books I read when later in my life I decided I wanted to learn more to help dogs and their families, to help the shelter dogs I had been volunteering with for years. This opened my eyes and sealed the deal I needed to learn more! Thank you Karen Pryor for all you have done for animals around the world. RIP 🌈

My path to becoming a dog trainer...

For the past almost 15 years I have been a volunteer at The Bergen County Animal Shelter. The lessons learned, and experience gained there led me to form Abby And Friends Home to Stay Pet Dog Training.

Through the years I have worked with so many amazing people trainers and who are doing all they can to help the animals in their care. I have worked with dogs of many breeds and mixes and certainly many temperaments. I have had the opportunity to work with these dogs on basic obedience and behavior modification and on their behalf as an adoption counselor. Seeing the difference that can be made in a dog’s life by training with positive reinforcement, stress reduction through mental stimulation and marking good matches in our adoptions has been so rewarding.

My goal is to take all that I have learned at BCAS and as a graduate of CATCH Canine Trainers Academy and help our adopters and all pet owners make sure that they have the help and the training they might need to transition their new best friend into their home and to raise a wonderful, loving and well-behaved member of the family and the community.
