Off to their forever home!

We’re so proud and happy to see our two OTTBs, Rocky & Sparky, begin their next chapter together. Watching these horses grow, learn, and find the right people to call their own is one of the most rewarding parts of life at California Horse Center.

There is a beauty in the horse that goes far beyond what we see in the arena.

It’s in the softness of a quiet moment, the strength in their movement, the trust in their eye, and the incredible privilege of being welcomed into their world.

Caring for horses is a responsibility we never want to take for granted. Every meal, every grooming session, every stall cleaned, every hoof picked, and every moment spent simply paying attention is part of honoring the horse who gives us so much in return.

At California Horse Center, we believe good horsemanship begins with appreciation. When we take the time to understand the horse, care for them well, and listen to what they are telling us, we build something far more meaningful than a ride—we build a relationship.

California Horse Center will forever be shaped by the life and work of Monty Roberts.

Every pasture, every arena, every trail, and every horse on this ranch reflects his lifelong belief that horses deserve to be understood through patience, kindness, and trust.

Monty devoted his life to changing the way the world sees horses. His methods inspired generations of horsemen and women, proving that true partnership is built through communication—not force.

While we mourn his passing, we are also incredibly grateful for the legacy he leaves behind. His influence will continue to live on in every horse whose life is changed through understanding, every student who chooses compassion, and every quiet moment of connection between horse and human.

Thank you, Monty, for a lifetime of teaching us to listen.

This is the home of Monty Roberts, whose lifelong dedication to understanding the horse transformed horsemanship around the world. From cowboying in his youth and training championship Thoroughbreds to developing the Language of Equus™ and Join-Up®, Monty's work has always been rooted in trust, communication, and respect.

One of the ranch's hidden treasures is Monty's Saloon, a remarkable space filled with memorabilia, photographs, awards, saddles, bits, and keepsakes collected throughout his extraordinary career. It's a special glimpse into the history of a man whose influence has reached horsemen and women across the globe.

California Horse Center is looking for a Barn Manager to join our team at our beautiful equestrian facility in Solvang, CA!

We’re hiring for either a part-time or full-time position, with an opportunity for housing for the right candidate.

Responsibilities include:
• Keeping horse schedules organized 🗓️
• Feeding, turnouts, and hot walker exercise
• Scheduling and coordinating farrier visits
• Assisting with moving horses and retrieving them for the veterinarian
• Keeping the barn tidy, organized, and safe
• Other general barn management duties as needed

We’re looking for someone who is reliable, detail-oriented, experienced with horse care, and enjoys working in a positive, professional environment alongside a dedicated team.

📍 Location: Solvang, CA
🏡 Part-time or full-time position available
🏠 Opportunity for housing
