Hello, Lovely Luna!!! I'm enjoying your company for the week while your wonderful foster family is out of town! Brrrrrrrr! It's chilly outside. You are very smart to stay snuggled in a warm bed by the heater with your toys! Can I join you?? 💜

Luna is still seeking her forever family. She is now about 8 years old and is said to be a Beagle/Boxer/Bull Mastiff mix. She has some medical issues that are well managed on her meds. She is in our Senior and Special Needs (SAS) Pet Program which provides financial support to her adopters; read more about that below. ✨

Luna loves people, kids, cats, and other dogs. 🐾 She is potty-trained and knows how to use a doggie door. Luna is not destructive and can be trusted to free roam. She does stairs well but needs some help getting into a vehicle and should avoid jumping on & off furniture. Luna likes to play with other dogs and has been romping in the yard with her current temporary foster siblings. She loves to be cuddled, hugged, and kissed. She also loves treats!!! Good thing trick or treating is tonight! Luna is a great girl who deserves her forever loving home to live out her years. Please consider adding an older dog to your family. She still has so much love to give!!! Also, thank you for doing yoga with me this morning, Luna! Namaste!!!

TO ADOPT LUNA:
KPAL Rescue dogs are vetted (spayed/neutered, vaccinated for Parvo/Distemper & Rabies, microchipped, etc.). Luna is in our Senior and Special Needs (SAS) Pet Program, this means that her adoption fee ($350) can be credited towards the veterinary clinic of the adoptive family’s choice for any future medical expenses (medications, surgeries, end-of-life, etc.) for her. Luna is a happy girl, but she has hip dysplasia and spinal spondylosis. She will benefit from a Librela injection every three weeks. There may also be additional funds available if needed (up to $650, for a total of $1000). Our adoption process is outlined on our website: www.kpalrescue.org/pet-adoption/, our Adoption Application can also be found on that website. Questions about our adoption process can be sent to [email protected].

⭐️ FREE PARVO/DISTEMPER VACCINES ⭐️
Vaccinations protect our pets from dangerous diseases like parvo and distemper—keeping them healthy and happy for years to come! 🦠

KPAL Rescue will provide free vaccinations for dogs on November 1st. The free vaccines are made possible through Petco Love’s national vaccination initiative Vaccinated and Loved, which is providing free pet vaccines to existing animal welfare partners, including KPAL Rescue, for family pets in need. 💜

Sunday, November 1st, 2026; from 11am-2pm at our KPAL Rescue Headquarters (47318 Progress Ct. #33, Soldotna, AK). This will be a drive through clinic. The free vaccine distributed at events through the Petco Love initiative will be the DAPPv Canine vaccine.

Parvovirus and distemper in dogs - the most prevalent deadly diseases affecting dogs - are preventable with a simple vaccine. An estimated 30% of pet parents do not take their pet to a veterinarian annually for preventative care. To ensure the health and wellness of our beloved pets and to address this critical need, KPAL Rescue and Petco Love have partnered to make vaccines free and accessible. 🐶

"Big thanks to Petco Love and our volunteers for your support and for helping us continue to offer lifesaving vaccinations to community dogs at no cost to pet parents,” said the KPAL Rescue board. "We urge community members to take advantage of this no-cost resource to ensure the health and wellness of our community pets”. 🐾

"Vaccinations are vital to protecting our beloved pets from life-threatening but preventable diseases," said Susanne Kogut, President of Petco Love. "Our goal is to make these critical vaccines accessible to as many pet parents as possible, breaking down financial barriers and strengthening the human-animal bond."
In November 2024, Petco Love's Vaccinated and Loved initiative reached its need by providing an additional one million free vaccines. The campaign was launched in August 2021, encouraging Petco Love animal welfare partners to host free vaccine clinics.

🐾 Almond update! 🐾
Almond tolerated his costume like a good sport… even if dressing up wasn’t his idea! 😆 He’s also discovered that following his foster’s son to the fridge sometimes results in an ice cube—definitely worth the trip! 🧊
This sweet boy gets along wonderfully with other dogs, cats, and kids. Whether it’s a furry friend to play with or a little human to follow around, Almond loves having company. 💛
He’s getting much better at understanding “down” and checking out the countertops less often! He also loves a good game of fetch—even if he has to toss his rope toy around the living room himself. 😂
Almond knows “kennel” and sometimes heads right in without a treat! Having his kennel beside his foster’s bed keeps him happy and close to his people, though he’d much rather snuggle in bed with the humans. His foster thinks that, with time, he could earn that privilege. 🥰
Playful, sweet, and always ready to be close—Almond has so much love to give! 🐶💜
