His owner writes...

We are looking for a MORE SUITABLE home for our Standard Poodle Nova. Our youngest son has a terminal illness and things have not worked out for him to be a therapy dog for our son. With our son's decline in health, frequent seizures and frequent hospitalizations, we have become a less than ideal home for Nova, not to mention the stress it has been causing us to have him.

We are looking for a home with NO OTHER DOGS. Nova isn’t dog aggressive at dog parks or out for walks. However at home it’s a different story. He is fine with our other 2 dogs most of the time while we are with him, but he bullies our 12 year old Miniature Poodle severely when no one is watching (such as forcing him to stay outside of the doggy door, or keeping him away from the water dish) and he has shown aggression towards both dogs in front of us as well, especially when they try to get affection from us. Nova is a VERY jealous dog and we truly feel he would be happiest in a home without other dogs.

Nova also doesn’t do well with children under about 8 years old, he hides and growls, so while he never has snapped, I wouldn’t trust him with younger children.

He is extremely sweet and cuddly and affectionate with adults and older children. He is a good dog in general, is very good about coming when called, walking nicely on the leash, etc. He will make someone an outstanding companion and best friend. But the few issues we’ve been having for 4 years, we just do not have the time or energy to dedicate to Nova the way he needs and deserves.

Nova needs a home where at least one adult is home with him all the time or he can go to work with his person. Nova needs a home where he will be exercised daily, jogs or dog park/fetch. Nova is very affectionate and deserves more time and attention/affection. We are in no hurry to “be rid of” him, we will only place him in a home that is MORE suitable for him than ours. He needs an experienced owner as well. We truly love Nova, and as sad as it makes us, we’ve taken a VERY long time to make this decision and we want what’s best for him and where he can thrive!

My kids and their puppies at obedience class this summer.

Gretchen (9) and her Standard Poodle, Susannah, (9 months, from our November 2020 litter) and Warren (12) with his Vizsla, Clouseau (8 months).

I am so proud of these two and all the hard work they've put into their puppies. They have raised two very well mannered, obedient, loving pups, that will no doubt enrich their lives for years to come!

Gretchen and Warren are both great examples of how important it is to take the first year with your puppy very seriously. The importance of laying a good strong foundation must not be taken lightly.

Gretchen is learning to groom Susannah herself. ❤️ She took down her puppy coat yesterday. I was sad to see it go, but we agreed that for now it will be easier on all of us if Gretchen keeps her in a short simple clip. I'm proud of how well these two youngsters work together on everything. 💕🐩

Thank you to everyone who continues to inquire about our Poodle puppies. Our pups have all been placed in wonderful homes, and we do not have any plans for another litter in the near future.

Amy got to visit the park for the first time today. How beautiful is this puppy?! ❤️🐩.

We teach all of our puppies to stack. Even though most of them will never step foot in the show ring, being able to stand still when asked, no matter what is going on around them, is an excellent skill for every dog to have!

Suannah is an amazing pup and we knew she needed an equally amazing family, so when Ally found us (a young girl, interested in training, and with her eye on vet school) we were thrilled! She was exactly what we wanted for Suannah and then some. We had to wait a month to finally get these two together, but it was worth the wait for such a perfect match. ❤️ Wishing the two of them many, many happy years together. We can't wait to see all that they accomplish!

Susannah's first official lesson on the lead. She's gone on plenty of walks with us but this was the first time she was asked to stay within six feet of us. She caught on quickly, which isn't surprising. Poodles are so smart!
