EHV1-neuro has hit NC, in Davidson County. The horse was found down Dec 26, 2025, and has died.

this is what EHV1-neuro may look like
● Neurologic signs are often (but not always) preceded by fever and/or respiratory signs
● Incoordination of the hind (and occasionally fore) limbs
● Ataxia
● Urine retention/dribbling, bladder atony
● Recumbency with inability to rise
● Rarely, cranial nerve deficits, seizures, and/or brainstem signs
● Be aware that many cases of EHM do not fit the ‘classic’ description of hindlimb ataxia and
urinary incontinence

We had a great day at Sport of Horses Park on Saturday!
Madison had a nice outing with Finn placing second in the GAG CT and winning her Intro C. Their first time adding some canter work to their dressage was a success!
Tux was the reigning king all day!
Kayla and Tux had fabulous rides at first level, winning test 1 with a 72.7% percent and receiving a score of 10 😲 on their stretchy trot circle and coming back to win their debut ride at test 3 with a 66. We've been working hard to get this horse moving correctly over his back and stretching in all three gaits and it is certainly paying off!
Stephanie and Shrimp had solid rides at First level in a competitive class. This little guy is moving more and more uphill and I'm here for it! He's really blossomed this past year in the harder work at first level.
Emily and Tux won their Training 1 test with a 67%! A personal best for them as a pair. So grateful to see how much Emily has grown as a rider through this opportunity to lease Tux the latter half of this season. She was the most relaxed and accurate in this ride so far and it showed.
Thank you to Todd and Heather Erickson for another fantastic show and Geri Messinger for the lovely photos!

I'm so grateful for such a great group of horses and clients! Thank you for trusting me with your horse's training, your personal development as riders, and/or your kid's enjoyment of horses and riding. Y'all are the best!

In "The Complete Training of Horse and Rider" Podhajsky directs that the noseband should be snug, but not so tight to prevent the horse receiving a treat. Which implies that treats will be fed during training sessions. 😊
