From birth, all of our puppies are handled daily by our staff. At different age milestones we introduce them to common sights, sounds and textures of a household. If you have ever wondered if there is a dog equivalent to a baby sucking their thumb…yes there is. This little girl was hungry when momma was out getting a drink of water. So she decided she would try nursing on her foot. Summer is coming! With the sun out, the flowers are blooming and the bees are buzzing. When you are out with your dog, keep an eye on them if they want to chase sky raisins (flies) or spicy sky raisins (bees and wasps). Many dogs will be fine if they chase, catch and eat bugs, but a sting can lead to allergic reactions (facial swelling, hives, itchy/red skin) or anaphylactic shock (you may see white gums and collapse). If you see signs of anaphylactic shock, go to your nearest emergency room ASAP. This is a true emergency requiring treatment. We wanted to share this video with you. Frank has been working with a dog here for a board and train. One of his exercises is teaching two dogs how to follow each other and play nicely together. Congratulations Henrike and Iron! Three new babies entered the world today. Two boys and a girl. First baby arrived at 9am, last at 1pm. We’ve never had Halloween babies before. Congratulations to Enni (who was a champ and delivered all babies in just a few hours) and Iron (these are his first babies). So far we like the nicknames: Gomez, Morticia, Pugsley, Wednesday, Fester and of course Lurch. But we also have some strong votes for Boo and Snickers. They always come in the middle of the night. We’ve been up all night but there are a bunch of new baby shepherds in the world. We will be reaching out to our wait list but do have more litters due the next few weeks so please reach out if you would like to add one of our babies to your family. All puppies go home with 4 puppy classes, a starter kit (food, leash,collar, treats and toys), a puppy guidebook, first aid kit and our first aid class is included with your puppy. Thank you Josie and Leo for giving us a great example of how an older dog and a puppy can play. Josie is teaching Leo how to be appropriate and respectful of older dogs and Leo is keeping Josie young. When introducing your puppy to older dogs, always supervise to ensure both are being respectful of each other.
