National Dog Photography Day falls on Sunday, July 26, 2026. The holiday was created in 2018 by pet photographer Kerry Jordan to encourage dog owners and enthusiasts to capture and share photos of their canine companions.

If you are looking to celebrate or upgrade your dog's photos, Snellville and the greater Atlanta area offer some fantastic resources and spots to get the perfect shot:

Local Spots for a Photoshoot:
Take your pup to Lenora Park or Bay Creek Park in Snellville to take advantage of the scenic trails and open fields for some excellent outdoor action or portrait shots.

Book a Professional: Consider scheduling a session with local Atlanta-based pet photographers such as Paws & Claws Pet Photography or Sarah McLawhorn Photography who specialize in capturing pets.

DIY Tips: To get the best results on your phone or camera, get down to the dog's eye level, use natural lighting, and keep their favorite treats or squeaker toys right next to the lens to guarantee engagement.Share Online:

Once you have your favorite images, post them across your social media accounts using the viral hashtag

National Craft for Your Local Shelters Day occurs every year on July 21, challenging DIYers to make handmade items for rescue animals. It's a great way to use up extra crafting supplies like fleece and yarn to provide comfort, mental stimulation, and a touch of home for pets waiting for adoption.

In Snellville, you can donate your handmade items directly to these local organizations:

Gwinnett County Animal Welfare and Enforcement: Located nearby in Lawrenceville, they accept gently used towels, as well as constructed crafts and blankets.

Furkids: Georgia's largest no-kill rescue organization, which relies heavily on volunteer-crafted items and basic supplies.

Gwinnett Humane Society: They accept homemade catnip pillows, durable rope toys, and old towels to help animals waiting in foster care.

To our wonderful clients and patients,

We want to take a moment to have a real, honest conversation with you.

For nearly three years, we have been operating without a permanent, full-time doctor. We know this hasn't been easy on you, your pets, or our team. We know how frustrating it is to not have consistency, to have to explain your pet’s history to a different face at each visit, and to feel the ripple effects of a team working under immense pressure.
In all honesty, there have been times when things have slipped through the cracks, and we hate when we don't deliver the seamless experience you deserve.
But through all the bumps, schedule changes, and transitions, you have stayed with us.
We see your patience. We see your kindness when things take a little longer than usual. And we want you to know how deeply grateful we are for your loyalty. You aren't just clients to us—you are our neighbors, our friends, and our community, and your pets are family.
Please hang in there with us! There is a light at the end of the tunnel, and we are working incredibly hard behind the scenes to bring back the stability and consistent care you expect and deserve.
Thank you for holding down the fort with us. We love you, we love your fur babies, and we are so proud to be your veterinary team.
With all our love and gratitude,

The Staff at Snellville Animal Hospital 🐾

National Kitten Day is celebrated every year on July 10th. Founded in 2012 by animal advocate and pet expert Colleen Paige, this day serves a dual purpose: appreciating the unmatched joy and cuteness that young felines bring to our lives, while aggressively raising awareness for the millions of homeless and abandoned kittens looking for forever homes.
Why This Day Matters, Peak Kitten Season: July falls right in the middle of "Kitten Season", the warm spring and summer months when shelters experience a massive surge of newborn litters. Adoption Advocacy: The day strongly encourages people to adopt from local rescues rather than purchasing from pet stores. Spay & Neuter Awareness: It highlights the absolute necessity of spaying and neutering pets to control the stray population.
Five Ways You Can Celebrate Support a Local Shelter:
You can volunteer your time, sponsor a kitten's adoption fee, or donate crucial supplies like kitten formula, toys, and blankets. Consider Fostering: Shelters are often overwhelmed in July. Fostering provides vulnerable, bottle-baby kittens with a quiet environment to grow until they are old enough for permanent adoption.
Spoil Your Own Kitten:
Pamper your furry friend with a new interactive toy, a special nutritious treat, or some extra dedicated playtime. Share on Social Media: Use the hashtag to share pictures of your own cats or to amplify posts featuring adoptable kittens from nearby rescue pages.
Adopt a Companion: If you have the time, space, and resources, visit an animal rescue organization to find your new best friend.

National Kitten Day is on July 10.
Founded to promote kitten adoption and raise awareness for feline welfare, it occurs right in the middle of summer "kitten season". Local shelters in and around Snellville host adoption events to help these little furballs find their forever homes.
If you want to celebrate by bringing a new kitten into your life, you don't have to look far. Check out local facilities like Atlanta Animal Rescue Friends in nearby Stone Mountain or browse adoptable kittens through the CatRangers rescue network. You can also view cats ready for adoption on Furkids, one of Georgia's largest no-kill shelters.
