🚨 **Rabies is Still a Real Threat — Even Here in Tennessee** 🚨
Like and share to spread this important message!
Just this week, a Good Samaritan picked up an injured stray cat and was bitten while trying to help. Tragically, the cat passed away en route to our clinic. With no proof of rabies vaccination, the cat had to be submitted for rabies testing — and now, the individual will likely undergo expensive and stressful rabies post-exposure treatment.
🧬 Rabies remains 100% fatal once symptoms begin — and it’s still very present in our community.
📊 According to the most recently published 2023 Rabies Surveillance Report:
Skunks are the primary wildlife reservoir in Tennessee.
Cats are the most common rabid domestic animal in the U.S.
Tennessee reported 16 cases of rabid animals last year, including skunks, raccoons, and domestic pets.
💉 Prevention is everything.
We strongly encourage all pet owners to keep their animals up to date on rabies vaccines and regular wellness care. Vaccinating your pets doesn’t just protect them — it protects your family, neighbors, and community.

🛑 Do not handle or take extreme caution with stray or injured animals. If you see one in distress, contact local animal control. Rabies is rare — but the risk is very real.
