BEAR SIGHTING IN SMYRNA ๐Ÿป

A juvenile black bear was recently spotted in the backyard of a residence in the area of Cottesford Drive and Windy Hill Road.

Residents are advised to keep a safe distance and never approach or attempt to feed the bear. Please supervise children outdoors, keep small pets indoors or closely monitored, and secure trash cans, pet food, bird feeders, and other potential food sources.

If you see the bear, give it plenty of space and allow it a clear path to leave the area.

Stay alert, stay safe, and please share this information with neighbors in the area.

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ Happy 4th of July! โค๏ธ๐Ÿค๐Ÿ’™

Our hospital is closed today in observance of Independence Day. We hope you and your pets have a safe and enjoyable holiday!

Fireworks can be exciting for us but very stressful for many pets. Here are a few ways to help keep them safe and comfortable:

๐Ÿพ Keep pets indoors in a secure, quiet room before fireworks begin.
๐Ÿพ Close windows, blinds, and curtains to help reduce noise and flashes.
๐Ÿพ Play calming music, a TV, or a white noise machine to help mask the sound.
๐Ÿพ Make sure your pet is wearing a collar with current ID tags and that their microchip information is up to date in case they become frightened and escape.
๐Ÿพ Avoid bringing pets to fireworks displays, even if they usually do well in crowds.
๐Ÿพ Offer favorite toys, treats, or a cozy hiding spot where they can feel safe.

If your pet is already prescribed anxiety medication for fireworks, administer it exactly as directed by your veterinarian. Please do not give any over-the-counter or human medications unless specifically instructed by a veterinarian.

๐Ÿšจ If your pet experiences a medical emergency today, such as injury, difficulty breathing, ingestion of something toxic, or severe anxiety that puts them at risk of harming themselves, please seek care at your nearest emergency veterinary hospital immediately.

We'll reopen during our normal business hours on Monday and look forward to seeing you then.

Have a safe & happy Fourth of July! ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿฑ

๐Ÿพ Did you know over 80% of dogs and 70% of cats show signs of dental disease by age 3?

"Bad breath" isn't just a pet quirkโ€”itโ€™s often the first warning sign of plaque buildup! Left untreated, oral bacteria can enter the bloodstream and impact your furry friend's heart, liver, and kidneys. ๐Ÿฆทโœจ

The good news? It is entirely preventable. Call us today to schedule your petโ€™s dental checkup and keep those tails wagging and smiles bright! ๐Ÿ“žโค๏ธ
