We’ve been dying to introduce this special duo.

Yogi and Richie are bonded 2-3 year old boys. Yogi is mostly blind and Richie helps him navigate the world. These two are obsessed with each other and we are holding out for a hero that will have room for double the laughs, love and fun in their homes and hearts. Will you be their hero?

answered the call when this beautiful Osprey thought he’d steal a little snack from someone’s pond. He must’ve misjudged his landing and injured his wing. Our amazing friends at Sweetbriar Nature Center checked him out and will rehab him so he can hunt again.

Please share this far and wide. Well meaning actions can cause a lot of disturbances for wildlife and our hard working rehabbers! Always call us or Sweetbriar Nature Center before removing babies.

PLEASE do not "rescue" those bunnies without calling a rehabber first. After 3 calls in a row, "found, put in a hamster cage", "found, loaded up in car and heading here", "found, on way to store to buy formula"....
In all 3 situations the well meaning finder has now made the babies, who were just hanging out in their nests, orphans, who now need to be raised by a rehabber.
Mom does not stay with her babies. Humans are not better at this than Mom. Please confirm that the babies are actually injured or orphaned BEFORE YOU TOUCH!!!

Meet Trinity!
This gorgeous husky girl is sweet and outgoing. She is estimated to be just 1 year old and is showing promising reactions to other animals and all humans. She is true perfection. As a husky, she will require a home that can keep her active and contained (they love to escape and explore!). Will you be her hero???

Fall in Love With a Shelter Dog or Cat

Dogs and cats that are taken into the care of shelters each year find themselves homeless through no fault of their own; “moving” and “landlord issues” are the top reasons people give up their pets.

When we rescue a surrendered or stray animal, they are immediately given medical evaluations. (If we are fortunate enough to have a medical history.we will pass it onto the new owner.) Our shelter staff will work with each potential pet owner to identify the perfect dog or cat that’s just right for your household. We will even bring your potential new family member to your home to see how he or she does with other pets and in your environment.

Our Shelter is full of loving, spayed/neutered, vaccinated—and often trained—pets who are just waiting to meet you! When you adopt a cat or dog from a shelter or a rescue group, you can rest assured that you have not supported the cruel and exploitative puppy mill industry.

NOTE: If you are thinking of meeting your next family member… Please give yourself at least one hour to visit the shelter, view the animals, and acquaint yourself with pets that are available for adoption. If you do not find what you are looking for, you can ask to be added to our wish list, which is maintained at the front desk.
