🐾Trivia Answer🐾

Yesterday we asked a fun feline trivia question! The answer is....

The Cheetah!
Unlike most cats, cheetahs keep their claws out for a better grip while running- like built in track spikes! This unique feature helps them hit speeds up to 70mph!

While our beloved pet cats have no need to reach those speeds, their claws do need regular care.
-Scratching posts help them to stretch, maintain the health of their nails and provide an appropriate spot for a natural behavior.
-Regular nail trims prevent painful overgrowth and keep those claws nice and healthy!

Call us today to schedule your feline bestie's pedicure!

🐾 Trivia Answer Time! 🐾
Yesterday we asked if dogs are the only species that will look where a human is pointing. The answer is… TRUE! 🎉

Dogs are uniquely skilled at understanding human gestures and body language. In fact, studies show that even young puppies (before any formal training!) instinctively know to follow a person’s pointing finger. This amazing ability is thought to be one of the reasons dogs have been such incredible companions to humans for thousands of years.

So next time you point to their toy across the room, remember...you’re witnessing one of the special bonds that make dogs man’s best friend!

👉 Stay tuned for next week’s trivia!

Fleas & Ticks Don’t Take a Break in Coastal Virginia!

Many people think flea and tick season ends once summer is over—but here in coastal Virginia, the risk is year-round. Our mild fall and winter temperatures mean these pests stay active long after the “traditional” season ends. 🍂🌊

✅ Fleas can survive indoors and outdoors, even in cooler weather. They can quickly infest your home and cause itching, skin infections, and even anemia in severe cases.
✅ Ticks remain active anytime temps are above freezing—which happens often here in the fall. They carry dangerous diseases like Lyme disease, ehrlichiosis, and anaplasmosis.

That’s why year-round prevention is essential to keeping your pets (and family!) safe. Skipping doses in the fall or winter leaves your pet unprotected when parasites are still active.

💡 Pro tip: Prevention is always easier (and less costly!) than treatment. Ask us about the best year-round flea & tick prevention for your pet at your next visit.

✨🐾 Welcome to Fun Fact Friday! 🐾✨
Each week, we’ll share a fascinating (and sometimes surprising!) fact about pets to help you learn more about the animals we all love. 💛

Did you know that dogs aren’t actually colorblind? 👀 While they don’t see the full rainbow like we do, their world isn’t just black and white either! 🌈

Dogs mainly see shades of yellow, blue, and gray. That means a bright red ball in the grass might not stand out to your pup the way it does to you—but a blue or yellow toy will really catch their eye! 💙💛

✨ Fun test for your pup: Offer your dog toys in different colors and see which ones they’re most drawn to. Chances are, the blue and yellow ones will win every time! 🐶

🎬 Bonus fun fact: Does your pup enjoy watching Bluey with their small humans? The show’s color palette was designed with dogs’ vision in mind—making it extra pup-friendly!
