Good Afternoon, The dog park is having work done this coming week. Hopefully Tuesday, the dead trees are being removed, and the fence is being repaired as well. The fence had a rough winter. It is also drying up nicely, and we are looking foward to a great spring!!

This CEA designation is another example of our continued commitment to protect our important natural resources for the future. Both White Lake and Mountain Lake are also vital to any future economic and tourism initiatives. Thanks to our community, and the Town Board for supporting this effort and the Lake Association for getting the process started!

The Lake Association of White Lake, NY is excited to share that the Town of Bethel Board unanimously approved a Resolution for the “Establishment of a Critical Environmental Area (CEA) for the White Lake/Mountain Lake Watersheds” following the Public Hearing at the Town Board Meeting on Monday December 16th, 2024 !!!!

CEAs are adopted by municipal legislative bodies and registered with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC). The designation does not restrict land use, but it does raise awareness about the area's important features. As a next step, the Town of Bethel will submit this application to the NYS DEC.

Adoption of a CEA designation for White Lake is a first for Sullivan County, and a huge step forward in our efforts to maintain the health and vitality of White Lake and other lakes in the region.

When the Lake Association took up this initiative almost two years ago, we knew then that this process would require ongoing consultation with the Town of Bethel. This has been and continues to be a collaborative effort between our Association, our Town’s leadership and our community to move this forward. It truly takes a village, and we are thrilled to be in partnership with you.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this happen. Well done!
