I love it when a customer buys the perfect horse! It’s so much more fun to work with students when they are properly mounted. This is Judy’s first time on Logan at Otter Creek and the pair are fantastic together! Also hitting the trails this day are Boomer and Teufel! At 35yrs old “Toy” is still happy to walk faster that everyone! You would think he was 5 today, not 35!

I can’t even begin to tell you how proud I am of these kids and how kind and responsible they were with their horses and each other as well as how pleasant and helpful their parents friends and families were! I saw acts of kindness and generosity throughout the day. It was one riders first show with Lucie and she placed second. The other young girl in her class who placed first shared her beautiful trophy with her! How extremely kind! Each girl helped the others when it wasn’t their turn and all worked together to care for the horses and our littlest lead line riders. Thank you Jen Trumble, Kathy Haverly, and Barbara Edwards for coming out to show your support. WOW! Top notch horse girls here! Enjoy the photos!

I think this story deserves a post of its own. This year we brought Redgie to the Cobleskill Fair horse show for a lead line class with his little rider. He is 30years old and I’ve owned him for over 10 years. I got Redgie from a local family whose daughter had grown up and moved away. This weekend at the fairgrounds an overjoyed young adult came to me and said that was her childhood pony! Her pony had been given away to another family when she went to college and I bought the pony years later from this other family. As it turns out this young adult, Stephanie, had been to my farm for a dressage clinic 12 or so years before with her 4H group Thundering Hooves and it is just coincidence that I unknowingly bought her pony a few years later. So here we are and our paths crossed again. The pictures capture the moment Stephanie is reunited with her Redgie! She spent the next two days showering him with love and care and grooming. She gave him several baths and body clipped him and we entered him in the showmanship and liberty classes so she could show him again like she had done in her youth! When a young person falls in love with a mini it is special. It’s easy to fall in love with riding but a mini is too small for a 15yr old to ride. The relationship is completely about caring for something without expecting anything from it in return. It is a partnership filled with love that stands the test of time and distance! Stephanie has spent the last 15 years worried and wondering what had happened to her childhood Redgie! I was so happy to see them find each other again after all these years. If you want to meet Stephanie and Redgie for yourself, come down to the Cobleskill fair grounds on Saturday and say hello. These two will be showing together again this weekend! .

Two of the most beautiful days of summer spent with two of my favorite summer camp kids. We added a few extra outings starting with a 10 mile ride at Otter Creek. Late night Chinese’s food. An overnight in the farm house. A day trip to Andrea Salisbury s obstacle course with Reggie and Waffles. A stop at JDs house on the way home to do some Roman Riding on the lovely Athena . And finally a stop at Good Tree Farm stand for the sweetest sun soaked honeydew melons, blueberries and tomatoes. That’s what I call really great summer days!

My friend Deb Tompkins came by this morning with a car full of wonderful horse things and set up a games course. The Cross Creek Equestrian summer camp kids learned pick up rider relay and shoelaces! The kids are getting a little competitive 🤣. Also on the schedule today was the lovely Dr Ries doing a routine baby check on Miss Lily. The kids also got to see a dental float and learn about metabolic testing! Judy came to visit her very friendly palomino Logan and Sue Sutch came to pick up Lucas all ready for his return trip to Otter Creek. Outside around the farm my friend Dierk was way up high cutting down a dead tree. Thank you to all for making this farm a very special barn family!

My special riders got a few special treats each week! Last week, after a long hard day, we biked the Schoharie Crossing tow path with Albie! This week we ended the week with a day out at Otter Creek! The ponies were amazing and they loved the day out as much as the kids! DC was the biggest splasher in the water. Toy (who can't seem to tolerated his foot soaked in a bucked) had no problem jumping right in the lake, and Nyxie really wanted to go swimming in the deep end! We encountered ferns, flowers, blueberries, hawks, toads, snakes, and a woodpecker. Can't wait to see what adventures await us in August!

So many fun experiences for our Pink Pony Club campers at Cross Creek Equestrian this week! The highlight for me was our special visitor Dr. Natalie Ries, DVM from the Equine Clinic at Oakencroft. Dr Reis gave us a peek at the little baby growing in Miss Lilys belly! And a heartbeat too! Plus several coggins to get us ready for the fair! With all the rain we had mad fun trail riding through all the puddles. In the afternoon we set up a spectacular obsticle course and scavenger hunt. A fun day had by all! If you are interested in seting up a camp day for your little one send me a message and I will get you set up!

Thank you to everyone that rode in the first of our Studio Dressage series. I heard so many possitive comments including "I've always wanted to ride halfpass, travers and renvers, and now i'm doing it!" These foundational dressage movements are often a bit harder because your body and your horse have to move into the dirrection of the bend. There were so many ah-ha moments! My students and my lesson horses rocked it! The Home Horse, Balimo, and trampoline helped us isolate the muscles we needed to turn on as well as the ones we needed to turn off for a better position and alignment! So much fun being your guide on this incredible dressage journey!

This Dressage Seat workshop continues every Saturday for the remainder of July. Its not too late to sign up for the next one! Come ride with us!
