1-2-3…..!!! Merry Christmas, everyone!!!
This creature “IS” the last piece of the very first tack estate I bought in 2014..(awe, baby..I know, right?!!)
One of a kind….
A lil’ History …. Barbara Ploeg (Card)’s mother Nona Ploeg hand stitched this sometime back in the 1960’s. I’ll assume this was from a Butterick (or like) pattern anyone’s mum could darn from scratch. Believing it to be made of 100% wool. Unfortunately, the liner has deteriorated far beyond fixing, yet my crafty mum carefully cut it away from the jacket in order for the next crafty seemstress to replicate a new one from its pattern…. Barbara or “Barb” as I knew her befriended me at the age of 12… Raspy voiced with an unforgettable chortled laugh, Barb smoked Camel bare butts whilst ropin’ & ridin’ with the best of ‘em… Her Ryon roping saddle & BC Joaquin silver bit are permanent fixtures in my home.
Measurements are…
Laying flat/Pit to Pit 20”
Top of collar to bottom hem 26”
Mid shoulder to cuff 23-1/2”
Width of arm just below pit is 8” (laying flat)
Width at wrist is 4”.
Heavy duty zipper. Collar stands up another 4”. Pockets are wide/deep enough for your favorite box of cancer sticks!!😂
It’s been carefully dry cleaned and stored in a smoke free home. Color is similar to corn on the cob if it were only dried buttermilk…😳
Hard to put a price on such a relic, but with its age, factoring in its authenticity (tag), needed attention to replace the liner (or not) and having survived the last 60+yrs… I’d be tickled to find it a new mum…♥️
