This 3 week old baby girl was found on the hot sidewalk. I brought her home yesterday. She suffers from severe brain damage. I am thinking it’s from the heat. She has improved a little bit in the past 24 hours. She can’t walk except in circles and then she falls over. She has been yelling today when she wants her milk and her intake has grown each feeding. She’s going to be seen Monday morning at the vet office giving her time to show what she can do.

I stayed up late to clean up the cattery last night because my breathing doesn’t seem to like this humidity and heat during the day. I got all the kennels cleaned and all the litter boxes cleaned and everyone is fed and watered along with their canned food. I got the two kennel rooms swept and all the garbage taken out to the wagon before I called it quits. I was soaked in sweat but I felt good knowing it was done.

When I went to York on Thursday I brought home with me a dozen baby kittens. They were found in a shed full of p**p and maggot’s. One was so bad they had to have it euthanized others where killed by the grown cats but these where gotten out of the situation. I didn’t even get to see them until I got them home. I put a gate up and let them out of the carriers were I got my first good look at them. They were all so filthy and under weight, their eyes were matted shut but they seemed happy to be out in the warm sun on the clean carpet with a full dish of water and dry food. I give each a bath or some required two, they were all started on antibiotics given capstar and a dose of wormer before they were placed in a clean kennel with a fleece blanket litter box and food and water for the night. They eat the dry kitten chow but their favorite is wet food. I am mixing chicken and liver pate with pedialyte. Donations to help with the care of these babies are needed. Chicken or Turkey pate, chicken or turkey I will cook for them, pedialyte( unflavored) and clumping litter are the top needs at this time!! Thank you

So the yard sale is over and clean up went smooth. We were done and ready for home by 4. The weather was against us for all 3 days of the sale cold and wet so I didn’t have any cats or kittens with us but we still had 3 adoptions. One kitten, one young spayed female and one senior male all went to have a good happy life. I also would like to share with you that the last 14 bottle feeds that I have been taking care of are all still doing great! I have a couple that have moved on to wet kittens food some that like both and a few still wanting just the bottle. Baths were given to 5 last night and baths given to the other 9 tonight.

Another hard day in the books. Making phone calls to get the new cats spayed or neutered, vaccinated and looked over. I also found that the furnace stopped working in the cattery so extra blankets and insulated sheets were placed in the kennels and the electric heater started running and the repair man called. I also ordered the fuel tank to be refilled. I had a cat brought in last night with a hole big enough for my thumb to fit in just between his chest and arm Pitt. He was started on antibiotics and the wound cleaned up and hopefully he can be seen tomorrow to check for any foreign objects. I also lost one of my feral cats today, a neighbor found him and removed him from the road.

Today is a hard day for me. Not only is it my parents anniversary but Donnie and I lost our baby 18 years ago today. I miss them terribly and I love them all so much.

Mom’s pets cat rescue is planning an event to raise money for the cats and kittens in our care. This event will be held in the large space in the basement of the Bedford legion around the back on Saturday November 23, 2024. Set up for the event will be from 9am until 11:00 am. If you would like to volunteer to help let me know.
The first activity is a home made hoagie sale. We will have Ham, Ham and Cheese, Turkey, Turkey and cheese and Italian. We will also have the choice of wheat or white roll. I will take orders from now until the event is over or we sell out of supplies. If you are wanting to order but you don’t want to come to Bedford’s for pick up I have had some volunteers come forward that are willing to meet you. Because supplies are limited the earlier you place your order the better chance that it will still be available.
Event two: Santa is going to be there!!! We also have a photographer who will be there to take pictures. You and your family, your loving family pet whoever you choose. You can use the pictures to have placed on a t shirt or just a picture to keep or a gift. All will be options at this event.
Event three: A dessert table with a large assortment of goodies will be available for purchase to eat with your hoagie or take home and freeze for thanksgiving Christmas or whatever.
We will also be excepting donations to help the cats: we can always use any of the items on the following list:
Dry cat food: favorites are purina, friskies and meow mix
Wet food: any and all kinds but turkey and chicken are the best
Meat from your freezer: hot meals are served on the cold weather days. Probiotics and lysine are also added.
Cleaning supplies are also always needed, Clorox is our best friend paper towels, Mr. Clean

These babies I am guessing about 4 weeks old where found in Claysburg after we are guessing being dumped. So far they seem to be doing well. They are drinking 2-3 bottles of kittens milk a feeding and very active.
