Well, I guess I better announce the new addition(s) to our herd!

On Monday, my sister, her husband, and I all drove out to warm springs to pick up a cute sorrel with chrome filly for my twin sister, Ava! This particular group of horses was gathered last Friday, so they are fresh out of the wild. Unfortunately Ava was working that day, so she couldn’t come with.

When we got to the corrals at warm springs we saw another super cute filly that caught our eye! After brief consideration, we decided to get her too! Who can resist a cute mustang when it comes down to it?! 😂

When we unloaded the horses at home, we found out that Ava’s “filly” is actually a c**t! He looks to be a coming two year old. The filly I got is a roan, and we believe she is an older two and also that she is pregnant!

I’ve worked with her a few times , and today I got a halter on her! She’s super chill and doesn’t really put much effort into getting away. I can pet her neck and side on both sides and her face as well! With the little bit of work I did with the halter she seems to respond well to pressure too! She doesn’t seem scared, just a bit unsure!

Im so excited to see where she goes! I have a name idea, but if anyone has any suggestions for names please share below!

Stewart update!!

Stew has been amazing since the competition! He seems to have matured and learned so quickly over the past few weeks. I introduced him to a “step up bit”, (just a little junior cow horse bit) and he seems to really like it and is comfortable in it. He’s also coming along really nicely with collection, and neck reining! His winter coat is coming in very dark, which I’m excited about! And of course, he just keeps on getting more and more beefy! Love this sweet boy, and keeping him was the best decision I could have made!

Body conditioning!

Stewie did amazing! He was very cooperative the whole time!

He’s very tired after today, but I’m excited for tomorrow, which is trail and the riding pattern!

Showmanship from today!!

Stewart did great, but I messed up! I walked a few steps after the second turn, but I’m so proud of how he handled himself! He was very quiet and listened very well the whole time!

Update!

Yesterday was a bit of a chaotic day! The “Flat Fire” is about 1 mile away from our property. Last night the smoke got really bad so we decided to take all the horses off property and keep them at a family friends place for the time being!

Stewart has some new bite marks from being turned out with a big group of horses, and we won’t be able to get much (if any) practice is before the competition, but the only thing that matters is that he is off property and safe!

Day 100 was yesterday, so I figured this was the perfect time to share!

I have some exciting news!

I have been thinking about this since Stewart came home back in April, and it’s decided. Stewart will be coming home with me after the competition!!

After my challenge Mustang from last year, Toby Keith (TK), I wasn’t sure how any other future Mustang would win me over the way he did. Until Stewart came along, and did the exact same thing! He is such a once in a lifetime kind of horse, and I can’t let that go. I’ve never been around a horse that loves people and cuddles so much, and that you can literally do anything to!

You can train a horse to have all the fancy buttons and maneuvers, but their brain and personality is something you can’t. He’s the kind of horse anyone can ride, and I trust him so much! I love this horse so much and I can’t imagine parting with him. Everyone that meets Stewart says he is such a cool horse, and that it’s going to be a hard decision whether to keep or sell. After deciding last night, I couldn’t be happier and more set on this decision!
