🌟 Long post, but we got so much accomplished today I just have so much to say!! 🌟 Ride #3, and first ride in the big arena!! I am SO impressed with this horse. The brain on him is just so cool. This morning I took him out to our arena, which is 100x200, so there a lot of space. I didn’t know how he was going to react with his third ride being in such a huge area, but he was fabulous. There wasn’t a single time when I thought he was going to do something goofy. He went along like he’d been in there a thousand times before! Since he was doing so well, I decided, why not try to swing a rope above him? Stewart has never been exposed to the rope before, but again he didn’t care at all! I swung it around him a few times before throwing it above his head, and he didn’t care about either! Later, I drug a log with the rope too. He also has never done this before, so I was very excited to see he didn’t mind it one bit! Lastly, I decided to take him by our trailer to introduce it to him. He wasn’t scared about it, so I opened up the doors to see if he would be afraid of the inside, and he wasn’t! I got him to load his front feet, and back out with ease. I didn’t want to push it today and try loading him fully, but I have no doubt that he would’ve been able to do it this morning as well, just fine. This horse keeps impressing me everyday. For only three rides, I feel like I can trust him with pretty much anything. He’s never offered to run off, bolt, kick, rear, anything! He’s just a chille easy going horse, and I love him for that!!

Ride 2 on Stewart yesterday! He did awesome, and is already figuring out more and more under saddle! He’s excellent with bit pressure and bending! He’s starting to understand what go means, and is getting a hang of walking and trotting at a steady pace! He also got his first bath ever, and he LOVED it! He stood there the whole time, letting the cold water go all over him. I was expecting at least a little resistance to the water, but he loved it! He liked to drink from the hose too. This horse is so cute and I’m so excited to be on this journey with him!

Big big steps today! Today Stewart had his first ride! I wasn’t really planning on doing this today, but after working with him this evening I felt confident that he was totally ready for me to hop on, and he did great! I’ve sat on him ba****ck and made him move to pressure a bit, but this is his first time being ridden with the saddle! We got some trotting in as well! He was super calm the whole time, even though he was confused at first! This horse continues to impress me daily, and today just goes to show how calm and laid back he really is. I can’t wait to continue this your way with him, and see what he becomes! Thanks to my mom for helping me with the first ride, and to my sister for recording!

Stewart got a visit today!
A sweet family was in the area today and came out to meet Stewie boy! He did so well, with all the people, dogs, and new faces! I keep falling in love with this horse more and more each day, and I love that other people are getting to come out and experience his demeanor and presence! 💙

The beefiest boy 🍔

Stewart got to meet a new friend today, a yearling Mustang from warm springs that Maddie's Oregon Mustang and my mom have been working with! And of course we had to get some pictures while he was standing on the bridge, he just looked to cute! I also got a bit on him today, and he was completely fine with it! This horse is just the coolest, he’s got such a good brain! 🤩

Stewart, the most loving boy!!

I’m finally done with cosmetology school and will be back in Sisters!! And that means more time to work with this handsome horse! Watch for updates, and later today I will be posting a video from last weekend (we did some fun new things!)

So excited to announce that I have been accepted into this years Summer challenge!!

Last years challenge was such an amazing experience for me, and I am so grateful to have the opportunity to do it again 💕

Words can’t describe how I feel. I am so grateful for the opportunity I have had this Summer to train and work with this horse.

Toby Keith has been the best horse I’ve come across, I have so much love for him. It’s hard to let him go, but I am happy to say that he went to the best home I could ask for. He definitely has made me hooked on these mustangs, and I’ll 100% be doing this challenge again in continuing years!

TK and I ended up doing super well overall! Here’s how we did!

1st place Showmanship
1st place body conditioning
Reserve Champion Overall teen riding out of 18 riders

TK is going to Washington where he will be ridden on the trails, learning mounted archery, and eventually shown in the ranch riding!

Best of luck to TK and his new owners, I will be your number one cheerleader and I can’t wait to follow your journey! Sounds like he’s going to be pretty spoiled and happy with his new home 💕

Day 2 is complete ✅

TK did really well in both Showmanship and Body Conditioning! He was very quiet in both arenas, and tried his hardest! I continue to be amazed by the brain on this horse every day. He is absolutely exhausted, he had to take a mid-day nap to recalibrate his brain 😅

Tommorow we will start nice and early with a trail walk through at 7:30, and then Trail and the Riding pattern starting at 9!

Sleep well TK and rest up 💤💤💤
