Attention Sioux Falls.

I have recently learned that I am not currently ranked #1 in every category.

This is obviously a mistake.

For years, I have faithfully served the community by:
🐱 Supervising from high places
🐱 Judging customers silently
🐱 Accepting compliments graciously
🐱 Providing free cat hair on clothing
🐱 Looking incredibly handsome with minimal effort

Meanwhile, the humans keep asking me to "earn my keep."

Excuse me? Have you seen morale since I arrived?

If you've ever stopped by just to see me, taken my picture, told me I'm cute, or been personally judged by me while shopping, I humbly request your support.

Unfortunately, today’s Nail Clinic has been canceled as the groomer is feeling under the weather.

Right now, more than 300 animals are in our care.

Every available kennel is occupied, and our resources are being stretched further each day.

Last week alone, we took in 139 animals.

When shelters reach this level capacity, the animals feel it first.

Within days, we've seen more stress-related behaviors as the shelter becomes more crowded.

More animals means more noise, less space, and less individual attention, making the shelter environment harder for animals to cope with.

This is more than a numbers problem.

It's a welfare problem.

But this crisis is not without hope.

We believe in this community, and we're asking for your help again.

Last night during the 10 o'clock news, KELOLAND featured our native prairie restoration project in an "Eye on KELOLAND" segment.

Over the past two years, we've removed thousands of square feet of asphalt and gravel, planted more than 2,000 native plants, and begun restoring another 15,000 square feet of neglected land behind the store.

This project isn't about selling pet food. It's about taking a space that had become an eyesore and transforming it into something that benefits pollinators, wildlife, and our community.

Last summer, we watched butterflies, bumblebees, and other pollinators return to areas we had restored. Seeing that transformation firsthand has been incredibly rewarding and has inspired us to keep going.
