🌱 Big things are happening behind the scenes at Roxi & Co.

The area behind our store has long been an overgrown space bordering some old railroad tracks. As we began improving it, we discovered it had once been used as a dumping site for concrete, rubble, and other debris.

Over the past few weeks, we’ve cleared weeds, brought in 10 truckloads of black dirt, and started improving the grade in preparation for the next phase of the project.

Our goal is simple: transform a neglected area into future native prairie habitat filled with flowers, grasses, and resources for pollinators like bees and butterflies. 🐝🦋

It’s not the most glamorous project, but it’s one we’re excited about. We believe businesses should help make their community a little better.

More updates to come as the transformation continues. 🌼

🌱 More progress happening behind the scenes at Roxi & Co.

Today an excavation crew began work on the area behind our store as we continue transforming what was once an overgrown, neglected space into something beautiful and beneficial for our community.

What many people don’t realize is that this area was once used as a rubble site. As we’ve worked on improving it the last few years, we’ve uncovered buried concrete, construction debris, and years of neglect beneath the surface.

We’ve cleared weeds, brought in fresh black dirt, and now we’re improving the grade so the area can eventually be seeded with even more native prairie plants later this year.

One of the things we love most about South Dakota is the prairie landscape and all the life that comes with it. Last summer we watched butterflies, bees, and other pollinators return to areas we had restored, and we’re excited to continue expanding that habitat.

Little by little, we’re turning an eyesore into something we’re proud of. 🌼🐝🦋

The rain has cleared and we’re all set up for The Hood Magazine’s FamilyFest Cruise!

A big thank you to all the rescues, shelters, and community organizations that are joining us today, including: Rescue Network, Sioux Empire TNR Coalition, 605 Boxer Rescue, Sioux Falls Area Humane Society, Almost Home Canine Rescue, & Friends of the Big Sioux River.

We’ll be here until 2:00 PM today with family-friendly activities, and plenty of fun for the kids.

Our neighbors at Dakota Snow / Polar Bites are offering FREE ice cream cones for kids while supplies last!🍦

This award recognizes organizations that demonstrate integrity through their character, culture, customer care, and community involvement. To be recognized alongside so many outstanding businesses across the region is truly humbling.

In honor of Memorial Day, Roxi & Co will be closed Monday, May 25th as we take time to remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. 🇺🇸

Today, we pause with gratitude for those who served and gave everything for our country.

We hope everyone has a safe and meaningful Memorial Day with family, friends, and loved ones. ❤️💙
