Letās talk a little bit about what exposure our littles receive before leaving us.
Letās start with baths. Bathing the kittens is something we do from a young age. Why? To assist in their potential grooming needs with age. This helps them be prepared. When bathing them we start slow with just water exposure, then we add soap, a brush, and even the hair dryer (on low of course). While not all cats are taken to the groomer, or groomed at home, this prepared those that do receive grooming; especially the long hairs.
Next letās talk about other animals. The babies are exposed to dogs and other cats from a young age. Other cats may not seem very important right? However this teaches them how to coexist properly, share a bowl, use the litter box, manners while playing, etc. The dogs they live with before leaving are large, so they will not have a fear of large dogs, in fact they will likely love them that much more.
Kids! Oh the children. Having 3 children in the home makes for great socialization. They hear crying, playing, not so quiet toys; they are picked up, cuddled, kissed, and loved to no end.
While the exposure is nice, what else do we do for them? We send them off with their first round of shots, deworming, and a flea and tick preventative so they are covered for the first month in your home. They always have their vet paperwork. They are litter trained, eating solid food, and ready for love. Of course once your baby/ies is/are home, it can take a little bit of adjusting. Learning a new schedule, learning where their new litterbox is, getting to know you and your household. Give them grace, love, and patience.
Is there any other questions youād like us to cover?
