Being in animal rescue isn’t just about our team — it’s about what we can accomplish together as a community.

So much of this work happens beyond what anyone sees. It’s more than the photos, more than the updates, more than the moments we share online.

Here in Central Louisiana, Avoyelles Parish is full of independent, compassionate people who give their time, their homes, and their hearts to save the unwanted and the neglected. And outside our parish, there are even more who step in to help. We communicate, coordinate, and work behind the scenes like a giant moving puzzle — all for the animals who need us most.

Without animal control or a parish shelter, we rely on outside support. Our rescue partners help us provide lifesaving medical care, spay and neuter services, and the chance for every animal to find a forever home. Their impact is enormous.

And then there’s you — our followers, donors, fosters, transporters, and neighbors. We need you. We appreciate you. And we’re so grateful you’re here with us, standing beside the animals who depend on all of us to show up.

Together, we make rescue possible.

Car engines ran from Simmesport to Lafayette and Lafayette all the way to New Jersey, and because of that teamwork, pups Sammy and Mollie have officially arrived safely and are on their way to homes of their very own. 🚐

Huge thank you to our incredible fosters, our dedicated ground transport team, and our amazing rescue partner who helps make these happy endings possible. 🐾❤️

Bessie came to us last December after an independent rescuer in town found her roaming our parish as a stray. At around 13 years old, she is the gentlest soul—and she deserved so much more than life had given her.

We are incredibly grateful for our rescue partner, SouthEast Beagle Rescue, who stepped in, found her a loving foster, and will eventually help her find a home of her very own. Transports like these are truly special. They rely on multiple volunteers, crossing state lines, handing off dogs like Bessie car by car, hour by hour, all the way to Florida.

Bessie is settling in beautifully and loving her new life.

Thank you to everyone who played a part in helping older dogs like Bessie. They are just as precious—and they deserve their second chance too. ❤️
