A haunted house but it’s taking your father-in-law to the ER on a Friday, on the 30th of the month, in part for pneumonia… when your husband died on a Friday, on the 30th of the month, in part from complications of pneumonia.
Sorry Halloween, real life is scary enough this year, we really can’t deal with you at the moment.

I had a convo with some neighbors yesterday…
Neighbor 1: Can you believe that Halloween is number two to Christmas in what people spend these days?
Neighbor 2: Yes, but it should be number 1!
(This is why Neighbor 2 and I are friends!)

I may be completely unhinged, but it suits me. Welcome to the holidays in my era of sadness and despair. The black tree is here (after many hiccups) and will remain, albeit with different lights and decor, through New Years. Tuesey is not amused.

It’s a Friday again. It rained yesterday. On our first walk, we got soaked. On our second walk we took puddle pictures. I wish I could send you this photo. I miss you. I’m making clam chowder for dinner. Why did this happen? I should really do laundry. I can’t believe you’re dead. Look how beautiful the sky is. I wonder who I’d be if you were still here. I’m doing okay. I’m absolutely not okay. I’m grateful for what I have. I want what I lost. I need a nap. I need to scream. I wonder if anyone notices. I hope they don’t ask. I wish someone would ask.

I had a realization this morning. Halloween was my favorite holiday when Scott was here. But, is it still my favorite holiday? I’m not sure… In any case, I’ll be crying at all the pumpkins in the stores, not going to the pumpkin patch, and generally avoiding things that are hard for the next eleven days.
