I left my mom last Monday. My chapter has ended. Goodbye.

I got all pretty today. I’m starting to go bald in spots. My joints ache, and I trip a lot. I can barely see anymore and making out words is a chore. The worse part is mom makes me wear diapers at night, cuz yeah I also have incontinence. All in all though i feel great today!

My babies getting comfy with each other. Persia is always fine with critters, but Mr. Bailey Boy was afraid of the big bad dog. This is the first time Bailey’s felt safe to sleep with Persia who loves snuggling under a blanket.

Well this has come along. Diapers for inside time. She’s been leaving wet spots. Today i came home to a full on p*e spot. This dog never has accidents in the house. Never. Incontinence, another age related s**t hole. She see’s the vet Monday for her Adequan shot, we’ll discuss possible bladder or kidney infection. And what we might do medically for the problem.

Well, Persia has hit older dog physiology and ailments. She came home from the vet on Adequan for arthritis pain but also came home with a heart murmur that she's never had in the past. We've been watching her for congestive heart disease for the past month and will be addressing it most likely within the next three weeks with Lasix. I'm hopeful that her lethargy goes away with the Adequan. If it doesn't we'll go after the heart in earnest. The murmur is a mild one. But...

She's not allowed to get old...

It's been 12 amazing years with Persia so far. She came to me at 5 months old, was spayed at 6 months, and has been the best companion and most over-the-top fabulous dog I've ever had the pleasure of knowing.

Persia has developed a sort of clearing of her throat and an occasional cough, her voice is raspy and sounds like her throat is full of phlegm. It's been like that for a month now. After a vet visit, she was put on prednisone for a few days to see if her symptoms were from her allergies before we delve into other more ominous reasons.

So the prednisone did nothing for her, in fact, the condition worsened while she was on the meds. Our next thing is to knock her out and look at her throat for a possible foxtail or infection. If those possible causes are eliminated, then the Veterinarian will look at her heart and of course at her age... So I'm hoping for irritation in the throat that we can address.

If not we will go hunting for congestive heart issues and hope to rule them out.

As it stands if she has heart problems I'm hoping we still have two to three years together. If she kicks whatever this is, she could possibly get another 5 -7 years with me.

Either way, I think she'll be my last dog.

We have a new hair cut man for Persia. First professional groomer for her in 10 years. We both think Erik rocks! We’ll be going back often.
