Temperament: Playful, Tenacious, Outgoing, Friendly, Bold, Protective

Colors: Fawn, Black & Tan, Black & White, Sable, Red

Weight: Male: 22–31 lbs (10–14 kg), Female: 22–29 lbs (10–13 kg)

Height: Male: 10–12 inches (25–30 cm), Female: 10–12 inches (25–30 cm)

Like most of the herding breeds, they're smart and easy to train. In fact, they're rated as the 11th smartest breed in Stanley Coren's book The Intelligence of Dogs. Corgis excel in agility, obedience, tracking and, of course, herding. This type of Corgi was first used by farmers in South Wales to skillfully herd cattle, sheep, and ponies. A friendly and beautiful dog, it is still used today as a farm herder -- nipping at heels and bending under hooves -- but is more often kept as a house pet.
