🥰 I had a Pyrent ask about the "badger" masking and I told them I would post progression photos of how the mask fades and recedes 🥰 I love the badger mask... especially the RED heads!
• The Puppy Stage: Puppies can be born with a distinct mask and body patches composed of gray, tan, reddish-brown, or a blend of darker hairs known as blaireau (the French word for badger). Per breed standards, these markings can legally cover up to one-third of the dog's body.
• The Fading Process: As the puppy grows, its coarse adult coat begins to push out the puppy fluff. This transition typically causes the dark fur to lighten rapidly—frequently starting as early as 4 to 7 months of age.
• The Adult Outcome: In most cases, the dark markings recede until the dog appears almost completely white. However, mature Pyrs usually retain beautiful traces of their heritage, such as a delicate trim of dark fur along the edges of the ears, dark skin pigmentation underneath their white coat, and dark "eyeliner" accentuating their eyes 🥰
