Happy ONE week to our lucky 13 little chunky nuggies! 🥹🦮🐾🧡🩵
This last week has been quite eventful! Clover started labor last Friday morning and her first puppy was delivered at 8:56 AM. The 13th puppy was delivered at 5:05 PM. 8 hours!!!
We thought that she was done because she relaxed and took a nap and there were no contractions or pushing. Around 8 PM we started seeing more contractions, but not close together. 🕥
I called our vet’s emergency number and asked what to do, because I was able to feel a puppy that I couldn’t feel before. She said to wait until the morning and see if she is able to deliver it, and then we will go from there. 💉
Long story short, she labored for over 17 hours with that one puppy, was not able to pass it with oxytocin shots, and then an x-ray confirmed that there was one very large puppy completely twisted in her uterus that could not be delivered naturally. 😥
On Saturday, Clover had a C-section to remove the 14th puppy, who sadly did not make it. It is common for the last puppy in a litter to sometimes struggle to be born, and it is common in large litters to lose puppies or to have smaller puppies that may struggle. 🙏🏼
Throughout this, Clover has been extremely attentive, alert, careful, and has nursed her babies constantly. She has done phenomenal, and she is a wonderful mama.
This week and a half has been for me very little to no sleep, and just feeding, cleaning, watching, weighing puppies, moving puppies, and helping Clover. 🍀
All 13 puppies are well over or at 1 pound, and they are all doing fantastic.
We have 5 boys and 8 girls. The 14th puppy was a little girl. 😇
Here are some pictures that I’ve taken over this last week, with the first one being taken just now and I am going to post individual and group pictures as soon as I’m able! I apologize for taking so long to update. It’s just been a rough week to say the very least! Please share if you know anyone that may be interested in taking one of these precious babies home late July. 🏡
