HAPPY NATIONAL PET DAY!
I have a lot to be grateful for on this holiday! Since Grace passed, I have invited 2 wonderful little souls into my home and into my life. Duchess is a 1 1/2 yr old mini schnauzer and retired breeding dog. She is amazingly sweet and also shy. Cameo is a 2 yr old stray kitty who was T.N.V.R.ed over a year ago. She would follow Grace and I around when we were outside. I brought her indoors and she loves being spoiled. The girls are slowly getting to know each other. I love my little family!

My wonderful Grace departed this world a week ago. I named her Grace because we found each other by the grace of God. She was the special spark of joy that warmed my whole world for 15 yrs. I’m exceedingly grateful and blessed for all the adventures, play times, laughter, companionship, quiet times, cuddles and LOVE….so much LOVE. And, Grace was the inspiration for starting Haute Pawz. Dear God, please give my furry angel a kiss and tell her it’s from my heart. Miss you my sweet Grace.

High in the mountains of Costa Rica lies Territorio de Zaguates,an sanctuary unlike any other. Known as the “Land of the Strays,” it provides a home for more than a thousand rescued dogs, all free to roam acres of open countryside. Unlike typical shelters, this place offers dogs space, freedom, and constant human interaction.

Trritorio de Zaguetes is a no-kill shelter. The dogs live in large, natural spaces with food, shelter, food and care _ waiting to be adopted, but never pressured to leave. Many of them are mixed breeds, often celebrated with creative, playful names that highlight their uniqueness.

Visitors are encouraged to hike the scenic trails with the dogs, creating a joyful, chaotic parade of wagging tails. The experience is not only therapeutic for the dogs, but unforgettable for the people, who often find themselves bonding with a future companion during these walks.

We’ve been dealing with my sweet Grace’s recent health issues. She’s been diagnosed with heart disease and a mass on her liver. After weeks of not doing well, she is now on 3 heart meds, has her s***k back and is doing great. Thanks be to God. At 14 1/2 years old and with heart issues, the vet doesn’t want to do a biopsy of the mass. So, we are enjoying each day and trying to make each day special. Visiting Siesta Beach is a fun adventure for both of us.
