The remaining balance will be due 5 days prior to pick up unless you are paying with cash and then it is due day of pick up. Please remember, the deposit is non-refundable.The only exceptions are puppy’s health, or an unforeseen circumstance on our part, which includes refusal to sell the animal. The puppy will not show as reserved until a deposit is received by us. We reserve the right to refuse the sale of any animal to anyone who we feel cannot provide a safe and loving home for them. Puppies often do not show individual features or dispositions until close to pick up time. For example, most tri-color Bassets show much black at birth that will slowly turn browner in certain areas. They will not be released to go to their forever homes until at least 8 weeks of age, fully weaned and well sicialized
Pups will be de-wormed and have first set of shots recommended by our vet. Puppies will be started on Purina Dry Puppy Food. Our Basset Hound parents are AKC registered and have been genetically tested. We will contact you when it is close to time for puppy to go home. This will help in making arrangements. If we do not get a response within that week, your deposit will be forfeited and the puppy will be placed for adoption. You are required to bring puppy to your vet within 5 days of puppy being brought home. If at this point, your vet finds the health of the puppy unsatisfactory you must provide the signed information from the vet. If the time frame is not met your health guarantee is forfeited. We offer 1 year health guarantee. It is your responsibility to be sure your puppy if fed adequately, given required shots, not left to he an outside dog all the time, and most of all loved. Bassets are a lot of responsibility and we expect their families to understand this. We do not provide health guarantee on common health problems for the breed. Please do your research on any breed you choose to adopt and understand the common health problems for each breed.

💛 Ziva 💛

Ziva was born 6/18/2023. She is spayed and fully potty trained. She is a sweet, calm, and loving girl who forms strong bonds with her people.

Ziva does experience anxiety and does best with a patient, experienced family who understands that she will need time and space to feel comfortable in a new environment. A calm home and gentle, consistent handling are important for her.

She also has a fear of leashes, which may have come from a previous home. She can walk on a leash, but it’s important to approach her slowly and calmly. We have worked with her on leash use, and continued patience will be needed.

This is being approached thoughtfully and with Ziva’s well-being as the priority. If you feel you may be a good fit and understand that some dogs need extra time, please send a private message.

Update:
We did lose the puppy. She was a little girl. She was positioned in a U-shape and was in both uterine horns, which made delivery impossible. She lived for about 30 minutes, and the vet team did everything they could to help her, but her lungs were compromised with too much blood, and she did not survive.

Ziva’s uterus was in very poor condition. Based on the veterinary findings, this damage occurred prior to her coming to me. I got Ziva as an adult, and I did not breed her at a young age.

I want to strongly encourage breeders to never allow a female to be bred before two years of age. Breeding too young can cause permanent reproductive damage and put a female’s life at risk.

If Ziva were to have any future litters, she would require repeated C-sections, which could seriously harm her. While spaying was not mandatory, it was strongly recommended, and as her breeder and guardian, I chose to spay her to protect her life.

I know several people were looking forward to a puppy from Ziva’s litter, and I truly appreciate your patience and understanding. Unfortunately, that will not be possible. We do have an upcoming litter planned with Thunder and Ellie, expected in approximately 62 days, and I will share updates on that as we get closer.

This was a heartbreaking outcome, and thank you all for the continued support and kindness during this time.

Update on Ziva:
Ziva is currently in surgery. Due to complications from a singleton pregnancy, the vet determined that a C-section was necessary, and for Ziva’s long-term health and safety, she is also being spayed. Her life comes first, always.

The veterinary team is experienced and taking excellent care of her. They are also actively working with the puppy.

We appreciate all the love, prayers, and positive thoughts right now. We will update as soon as we have more information.

Update:
We just got results back and Ziva is carrying a singleton puppy. The puppy is large and not positioned correctly, which explains why labor wasn’t progressing. The team has decided the safest option for both mom and baby is to proceed with a C-section. Please keep Ziva and her baby in your thoughts as we move forward. 💛

Update on Ziva:
Ziva will likely be having a C-section today. She is heading about an hour and a half away to a highly experienced veterinary specialist, per our vet’s recommendation. They will be doing a progesterone test, X-rays, and moving forward with a C-section, as she just isn’t progressing the way we had hoped.

We’ve done everything we could at home, but at this point the priority is making sure Ziva gets the very best care possible. We are hoping and praying these babies are okay and appreciate all the positive thoughts for her and the puppies. 🤍

Quick baby belly check and a call in to the vet this morning. No progression yet, but the vet says everything sounds okay and to keep waiting. I was able to feel at least three tiny wigglers in there. She’s carrying tight and small, so we’re calling it three for now, with any extras being a little surprise bonus. They’re alive, moving, and clearly very comfortable. She’s just taking her sweet time. Vet laughed and said she’s definitely a princess and at this point would probably have a puppy anywhere she feels like — kitchen, backyard, cold weather and all — as long as she gets one out. 💕🐾👑

Ziva has decided to hit pause again.
A little progress, a little rest, and lots of opinions about where she would prefer to have her puppies.
We’re staying patient, keeping things quiet, and letting her do this in her own time.
Strong mama, just on her own schedule. 💛🐾
