Companions of CPAS This Companions of Caddo Animal Services page is RUN BY VOLUNTEERS, not employees of the shelter.

We are a nonprofit dedicated to reducing the number of animals at Caddo Parish Animal Services by networking with rescue organizations, facilitating transports to rescue partners, and helping fund medical care for injured and at-risk animals. All animals posted on this page are or were located at:

Companions of CPAS is a 501c3 organization 💟 If donating to a certain animal, include their animal ID # in the note section of Pay Pal or Venmo 💸 If the animal is pulled by rescue, the funds will be sent to that rescue- If not, the funds will go to another urgent animal @ CPAS. Message our page to request a tax deductible receipt.

💔AT RISK💙 MEET CART’I — READY FOR HIS FOREVER HOME! 💙

Just 9 months old, Cart’i was owner surrendered along with his sister, Opal, through absolutely no fault of their own. Now this sweet boy is waiting for someone to choose him.

Cart’i was a little timid when he first arrived, but he has opened up so much! He’s curious, playful, loving, and does well on a leash. He could use a little extra guidance as he grows, but he has all the makings of a wonderful companion. 🐾

At only 30 pounds, he’s a great size — and best of all, he’s neutered and ready to go home TODAY!

🚨 AT RISK DUE TO LENGTH OF STAY — SNOOKIE NEEDS OUT 🚨

Snookie is only 8 months old, and she has already experienced more uncertainty than any puppy should.

She first came to the shelter as a young pup, was adopted, and sadly was later returned as an owner surrender. Now Snookie is back in a kennel, confused about why the home she thought was hers is gone.

She can be a little shy at first, but underneath that uncertainty is a curious young girl who loves to run, explore, and stretch out in the grass. 🌿 She’s still learning how to “dog” and simply needs someone willing to give her the patience, love, guidance, and security she needs to blossom.

But Snookie has now been at the shelter long enough that her length of stay is putting her at risk. At only 8 months old, she deserves the chance to grow up in a home—not in a shelter kennel.

🌿 MEADOW’S STORY — THIS IS WHY WE KEEP GOING 🌿

This past week, we lost five dogs, and our hearts are still heavy. Today, we want to share Meadow’s story—because she reminds us why we cannot give up.

Meadow came into the shelter as a stray—scared, lactating and appearing to have recently had puppies. She was incredibly sweet, but she was also heartworm positive and at risk of losing her life.

When Tail Lights Rescue Project reached out and asked if we could help Meadow, we immediately said YES. Then Animal Aid and Rescue Foundation ( AARF) stepped up and offered to sponsor her heartworm treatment.

Three organizations came together for one little dog who needed someone to fight for her. Tail Lights Rescue Project, AARF, and Companions each played a part in giving Meadow the chance she desperately needed.

Meadow went to our vet, began heartworm treatment, and was welcomed into a wonderful foster home. For months, her foster loved her, nurtured her and gave her the time she needed to heal.

Eventually, Meadow was tagged by a rescue and left on transport.

And then we received the most wonderful news:

MEADOW WAS ADOPTED. 🏡❤️

She wasn’t even there two weeks before this sweet girl found her forever family.

The scared mama who once wandered the streets alone is now healthy, loved and HOME. Meadow will never be abandoned, alone or wandering the streets again.

Her story is what happens when people and organizations work together instead of trying to do it alone. Rescues, fosters, donors, veterinary teams, transporters and everyone who shares these dogs—each piece matters.

This past week showed us the heartbreak of rescue.

Meadow reminds us why we keep going.

There will be another Meadow who needs us. And with organizations willing to work together and supporters like you standing behind us, we hope we can keep saying YES.

🚨 FOSTER NEEDED FOR JUST 4 WEEKS! 🚨

Look at that face! 🥹🐾 Sq**rt is only 5 months old, and he already has a rescue waiting for him! His transport is scheduled for September 11, but there’s one thing standing between Sq**rt and his new life:

He needs a foster home to get him OUT of the shelter.

Sq**rt is a neutered German Wirehaired Pointer mix and did well with the other dog he was tested with at the shelter. ❤️

🐶 Did well in his shelter dog test
🦴 ALL supplies and support provided

This isn’t an open-ended commitment. Sq**rt already has his next stop waiting for him—we just need someone willing to be his bridge from the shelter to rescue.

Four weeks in your home could change the entire course of this puppy’s life.

UPDATE: FOSTER FOUND!

🚨 FOSTER NEEDED FOR JOEY — JUST *4 WEEKS! 🚨

*Edited to reflect a 4 week foster needed. Transport is in 4 weeks. All supplies and lots of support provided!

Meet Joey, a sweet 3-year-old, 20-pound boy who was surrendered by his owner and now needs a temporary place to land. 💔

The wonderful news? Joey has already been tagged by a rescue! 🎉 He just needs a foster for approximately FOUR WEEKS to bridge the gap and get him safely to his rescue.

🐾 Only 20 pounds
🐾 House trained
🐾 Did well in dog-testing situations
🐾 RESCUE TAGGED!

Two weeks may not seem like much, but for Joey, two weeks in a foster home is the bridge to his next chapter. ❤️

Please consider opening your home to this little guy. He already has somewhere to go—we just need someone to help him get there.
