It's fixed, now to put it all back together again. A piece of the sidewalk leading into the riverfront dog park had to be unearthed to fix an underground water leak.

A few weeks ago in the Southern Hills Community Dog Park there was a momma possum with babies in the trunk of a tree, now we have baby birds in a p**p bag stand. I was going to stuff some bags into the container near the Tina's Garden area and was met with this little hungry 🐥. Please be careful with your dogs around there.

In a round about way, a wrong number to the dog park instead of the dog pound helped to find this lost blind and deaf 14 year old lost trucker's dog. Here's the feel-good story.

From a good friend that helped us get our first dog park: ‼️

Today I came across a dog locked in a parked car at Uptown Shopping Center on a 90-degree (at that time) day. While my husband went from store to store asking for an announcement to be made to locate the owner, I called 911 and stayed with the dog.

The crew from Shreveport Fire Station No. 10 were just opening the vehicle when the owner finally returned. Thankfully, the dog was safe.

A sincere thank you to the firefighters from Station 10 for your quick response and professionalism. It’s comforting to know you’re there when situations like this, and so many others, arise.

This ended well, but it’s an important reminder that the temperature inside a parked car can become dangerous in just minutes. Please don’t take that chance with a PET or a CHILD!

For those of you who wonder why I didn't break the window immediately, let me share this with you on the laws in Louisiana. I was following them and if you follow them, the outcome will be good.

Louisiana’s law specifically requires that you:

✔️ Make a good-faith effort to locate the owner.
✔️ Call 911 (law enforcement, or the fire department) before entering the vehicle.
✔️ Have a reasonable belief the person or animal is in imminent danger.
✔️ Use only the force reasonably necessary.
✔️ Stay with the rescued person or animal until emergency responders arrive.

One small caution :These laws are not identical from state to state. There are about 26 states which allow windows to be broken, but each one has their own set of rules to follow as I listed for Louisiana above.
